Keeping Up with the Thunderbirds

October 22, 2021 #weather #conferences

Another happy and busy week for our Thunderbirds! We started the week with snow and ended today with rain. Recess looks different at TV depending on the weather! Today lots of kids enjoyed dance parties on the blacktop at lunch. Snow angels are also so much fun! Kinder enjoyed indoor recess a few times this week.

Related to weather, it's helpful if kids come prepared with clothes for rain and snow - it was great to see so many boots and jackets this week! It also started raining today just after we started pickup. If it's pouring we will keep kids inside, but pickup goes pretty quickly now. A hood can help keep kids dry for that short time. Thank you!

Also, family conferences will be held the week of November 1st-5th. Teachers will be sending home signups - check those folders! Conferences may be via Zoom, in person, or by phone, depending on the teacher. Your teacher will provide specific times and information to you. Please contact your teacher directly if you have questions.

Have a great weekend!

Thunderbird Shout Outs

This week I would like to give a shout out to all of our amazing teachers! We have been spending every Wednesday collaborating about how to best meet the needs of our students to improve achievement for all. This week our teachers began planning for grade level wide differentiation blocks that will provide targeted instruction for every student K-5. Students will be shared across grade levels for small group instruction to provide support or challenge depending on each student's individual needs. Our teachers and intervention team have been hard at work gathering and analyzing data to prepare for rolling out these groups over the next few weeks.

I am so honored to work with such amazing teams!

Communication is very important in any successful organization, and my goal is that families always feel well -informed about everything Tahoe Valley.
