Jordan/Jackson News You Can Use
March 1, 2023
Student Barcodes and Identification Badges
This week we distributed student ID's to all Jordan/Jackson students and are having them wear lanyards containing the IDs throughout the day, except recess. As a courtesy through Lifetouch, student and staff identification badges have been created for daily use.
As a District, we are working to be more consistent regarding students wearing IDs.
The IDs have barcodes that help students and staff in a variety of ways. The uses increase as the students move up through grade-levels.
At Robinson, students are using them for lunch checkout. As they assess this year, they may look to increase usage.
At Jordan/Jackson, students will utilize them for lunch, library books and loaner chromebook checkouts. We have also color-coded stickers that identify the student's recess club.
QMS and MHS students utilize them for similar things, as well as others (tardy check-ins, etc.).
School Safety practices recommend that all students and staff wear IDs
We hope that it will foster a sense of responsibility for the students as they progress through the upper-elementary years.
Currently, all MPS staff wear identification badges throughout the day.
QMS students currently wear them all day.
MHS students must have them in their possession the whole day. Next year, they are planning to move to students wearing them.
We apologize for the late communication to families regarding the student badges. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Perreault at katherine.perreault@mansfieldschools.com.
JJ ENRICHMENT PROGRAM/SESSION 2/STUDENT SELECTION OF CLUBS
We have completed our first Enrichment Session. We received a lot of positive feedback from students, facilitators and JJ faculty and staff. It was a huge success in which students were able to explore new activities and socialize with other peers within a small group that was facilitated by volunteers from JJ’s faculty and staff.
For Enrichment session #2, we would like to streamline the process for students to choose to participate and make their individual selections on clubs of interest offered during their recess period.
Beginning March 2, during students scheduled Library/Media period, students will preview all enrichment club offerings for Session 2 with Ms. Siena/Mrs. Perreault. Students will then have the opportunity to complete a google form to make selections of up to 3 clubs of interest for this session..
Any student who is absent from their library/media period will have the opportunity to complete this form with Mrs. Perreault when they return to school.
We will be offering 3 Enrichment Sessions this school year, communication to students and families which club and session placement will be forthcoming.
