7th Grade Orientation
Late Start Wednesday's
Two Hour Delay Protocol - In the event of a 2-hour delay on a Wednesday, 'Late Start Wednesday' will be cancelled.
PM E-Learning Day on Wednesday Protocol - 'Late Start Wednesday' will NOT take place in conjunction with our already scheduled Wednesday PM E-Learning Days (August 23, February 7, April 10). School will run on time those days and release at 11:40 am.
Early Drop Off - Students who do not ride the bus may still be dropped off at 7:30 am (Monday - Friday) as we did last year. Those students will need to remain in the cafeteria on Wednesdays until 8:15 am.
If you have any questions about 'Late Start Wednesday', please reach out to Mrs. Whaley (emily.whaley@brv.k12.in.us).
Important Information for 2023-2024 School Year
Entrance at Door 1 - All students who enter the building after 8:00 am will have to enter through Door 1 only. We will not allow any students to enter through Door 2 during the school day (8:00 am - 3:05 pm).
Updates to Student Handbook - Please check the Jr/Sr High Student Handbook for all of the updates but I wanted to highlight a few before school begins.
- Students must be in attendance by 8:15 am to attend and/or participate in extracurricular practices, games and/or contests that day.
- If a student misses school on Friday, he or she must produce a note verified by the doctor in order to participate in any/all school activities the following day (Saturday).
- Good Standing - students who are not in good standing will not be allowed to participate in field trips, college visits, school dances, etc. See page14 for details.
- Cell phones - Junior high students are to leave them in their lockers but high schools students may carry them throughout the day. They are not to be visible in class unless approved by the classroom teacher.
Sick Child at School - If your child gets sick or feels sick at school, please remind them that the protocol is to report to the nurse in the office first. She will document symptoms and then inform parents when their child needs to go home. It is important that we are consistent and following protocols. Thank you for your assistance with this.
Car Riders Pick-Up Line - Students need to be picked up in the circle drive outside of the main entrance only (Door 1). Students are NOT permitted to walk across Viking Trail to get in cars parked at Irvin Park. This is a safety concern for our students as well as the drivers. Please help us by reminding your child and waiting patiently in the pick-up line.
Attendance - Please make sure if your child will not be at school that you call the school and let us know their name and reason for absence. As a reminder, we are following the Attendance Policy outlined in our Student Handbook this year.
New Castle Career Center Information
If you are an athlete in PM vocational, please let Mr. House (cary.house@brv.k12.in.us) know so he can inform the Career Center you are able to leave early to attend practice.
Early College will not begin until August 22nd.

Shout out to our Cheerleaders!
Our varsity cheerleaders attended a four day UCA camp at Anderson University last week. They put in a lot of hard work learning new material and skills and competed on the fourth morning in both the Game Day competition and the Camp Routine competition. The team walked away with a blue ribbon, gold ribbon, and a superior trophy!
Morgan Jones also competed individually to become an All-American Cheerleader!
Hailey Williams and Morgan Jones were also awarded pins from staff members as part of the Pin It Forward program. These pins are given to cheerleaders who staff feel exemplify the true spirit of a cheerleader by demonstrating such qualities as leadership and encouragement. Only four pins were given by staff members, so it is a big honor that two of those went to members of our squad!
Congratulation girls and Coach McDonald! We look forward to watching you in action this year!
