Grant Gazette
August 22, 2016
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
What is this?
Look for a Grant Gazette in your email sometime over the weekend or on Monday morning! I'd love any feedback you may have, a picture, or an idea or two!
Para Schedules
I tried to allow the paras to work longer times in fewer classrooms, so they can better serve the students and provide some feedback to teachers.
These para schedules are written in sand right now. Some of them might just say "8:45-9:45 1st Grade Reading" right now. Over these next two weeks or so, paras and teachers should work together to determine what specific times and which classrooms para support is needed most. In the example above, Lynn and Julie and Amber (I think it's Amber :) would sit down and decided that the first 30 minutes, Lynn could use her help and for the final 30 minutes, she'd be in Julie's room.
I realize that these schedules are never going to completely be rigid, but we would like a specific idea of which rooms the paras are in, so if the office need to find them, we can! And it will really help any sub paras that we have, as well!
Speaking of paras, I am having a more difficult time hiring one than I thought I would! I am still checking references, but I've left messages for our top 3 candidates, and only one has called me back! I'll keep you informed....

Thanks for letting me come in!
Another Great Grant Idea
If you have pictures of your classroom activities, please share the best ones with me so I can include them in a Bear Facts, our website, on social media, or with our print media!
Video of the Week
One high school teacher commented that it also helped remind her of times she may have acted this way at home with her own children.
Teachers, paras, principals, cooks, secretaries--everyone who works with kids--could use a reminder like this from time to time.
Tweets/Links of the Week!
The first addresses ways schools can communicate better with parents, while the other provides three suggestions to help you open and close a lesson. If you use one of these (or have used them in the past) please let me--and our other staff--know! Share and spread the good news!
