LTHS PATH Update
LT9 News and Notes Num. 13
5 Days Per Class Left Before Midterms
Crunch time! Thank you to all of our amazing supportive families helping your students check their grades and holding them accountable.
Teachers will be updating grades over Thanksgiving Break. Hopefully, all "missings" can be fixed.
See any mistakes? Check out the article below with strategies on how to get them corrected.
Saving Them Before They Email College Professors Like This
How To Tell Teachers About Mistakes
We need to know. We want to fix them. We can't be perfect when typing individual numbers for 150-200 students for as many assignments and tests for that class.
It’s inevitable, until robots take over education. We all know it would have happened already if robots weren’t so expensive.
We need your student to do a few things:
#1 Send a polite email with clear detail (see the article below)
#2 Speak to the teacher in real life
#3 Wait a few days depending on the class - teachers need time to update mistakes and “missings” because they’re grading current grades all at once
#4 Repeat- this won’t be necessary most of the time

4 Public Speaking Strategies - What Not To Do
Hand Gestures- Hands out of pockets, arms uncrossed, and in front of the body.
Eye Contact- No reading word-for-word unless there's a quote. No notecards allowed.
Pacing- Starting with choosing a single point in the presentation to cross over in front of the screen.
Attractive Visual Aides- No white backgrounds, no long paragraphs. No word-for-word scripts.
Culminating Projects are Underway
Students are learning:
- What do I do if a group member is absent on presentation day?
- What do I do if I’m absent?
- What do we do if there’s a technical difficulty and everyone’s watching?
- Notecards are not acceptable in the Ted Talk Age.
- Leading a group activity is hard.
4 Year Plan Showcase
Once course catalogs come out, we'll do a Showcase with our counselors to walk students through their 4 Year Plans.
Until then, we're explaining differences in the advanced courses like ACC, OnRamps, and AP classes.
We had upperclassmen speakers talking about their experiences and study strategies.
Best questions:
Does this affect our rank?
What classes are available to us next year?
What happens if we fail the AP test?
