Apple Fundraiser

It’s the last week. Ask your family and your neighbours! The apples have been delicious the last few years. Consider sharing a box with another family. Support us if you can. Thank you, it is appreciated as we continually raise money for our playgrounds. Etransfer to bready.school@lskysd.ca

Healthy Lunch Menu

It’s back! Starting Wednesday – Sept 15. It will be trial and error to figure out the best way to deliver our healthy lunch orders to classrooms since we cannot have 100 kids lined up in the hall from across the grades. But we will get there. Here is the daily menu to start.

Monday

Spaghetti Bake (Spaghetti, sauce, cheese)

Tuesday

BBQ pulled pork bun

Wednesday

Cup of Soup (Chicken Noodle)

Thursday

Honey Garlic Meatballs and Rice

Friday

Chicken Caesar Salad (Chicken, croutons, no bacon)

Items are $2.50 each. We take orders from the students each morning and collect money then, or families can purchase Healthy Lunch Cards - $25.00 for 10 punches. The cards really help. You can also help us by sending a fork or spoon in your child’s lunch kit or backpack. Covid or not, we strive to limit the plastic we put into the garbage but this year, we will be using plastic utensils if a child does not have one (In the past we use reusable sporks that we washed and sanitized).

Cheese pizza and grilled cheese sandwiches were always popular items. However, they are labour intensive. We will have special pizza and grilled cheese days, indicated on the monthly calendar, in place of the regular menu item. Mrs. Wahobin will make herself available these days to help us out and treat the students to these popular lunch items.

SEPTEMBER 28 – GRILLED CHEESE DAY -STUDENTS CAN USE THEIR LUNCH CARD or CASH. REGULAR PULLED PORK BUN MENU ITEM NOT AVAILABLE THIS DAY.

Lunch card program

Please call the office or Mrs. Sam Wahobin for support with lunch card payment. The point of this program is not only to provide a healthy hot (mostly-not Fridays) lunch option and to assist families since no microwaves are available, but it is also to ensure any students with food security issues are supported. We can help. Please don’t hesitate to call our office or Mrs. Wahobin (306-480-4197).

Milk and Veggie snack programs coming soon. We will keep you posted.

Terry Fox T-Shirts

ORDER DUE WEDNESDAY, September 15, 2021

We Would like to place the school bulk order on Wednesday so that they arrive in time for the day of the event, but of course, we cannot guarantee that.

We will send an invoice out to those who have not paid and have not contacted us. $40.00 per student. Receipts sent home with your student

Vaccinations at School

Please call the school today or tomorrow morning at the latest, if you or your children plan to get vaccinated here at Bready in the library on Thursday and we do not yet have your consent. We need to let Public Health know our numbers. We were asked to send consent forms home in hard copy and electronically, which is why this form was in the take home package the first week of school, even though not all students can be vaccinated yet. Vaccinations are available only for children born in 2009 or earlier.

The vaccine clinic begins at 1:30. You may access through the library door, which is in the middle of the staff parking lot, or our front door. Please stop at the office and sign in.

Battlefords Community Youth Strings Program at Bready

Information and registration forms attached.

The BCYS is more than an opportunity to learn a string instrument. It is a community based program that meets in elementary and high schools. It provides students with an opportunity to study, grow, and communicate through music . This is accomplished by creating a positive, open and supportive environment. The BCYS offers string instruction to students in grades 4 to 12. The program is administered by Gene Aulinger. Before covid restrictions were in place, eighty two students participated. Lessons will be offered once a week, for forty five minutes at each school. We hope instruction will begin the week of October 1.

This Thursday, grade 4 students will be introduced to the Battlefords Youth Strings Program. Grade 5 and 6 students are welcome to register as well, so please be aware that if your child participates in this cross-grade setting, there is an increased risk of the chance of having to isolate should there be a positive case in this group. We know having your child at home for an extended period is incredibly difficult to accommodate and affects their learning at school. We fully support this amazing program but hope that this information helps you make an informed decision for your family.
