Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind
Students are also encouraged to contribute toward our school’s mission and vision. Our Wildly Important Goal this quarter is for 80% of students to pass one level in Rocket Math (math facts) each week. We post our progress on the bulletin board outside the office each week. Our school also believes that it is important to experience education, so participating in STEM Lab, serving in a leadership role, and attending field trips are additional ways that students can contribute to our mission.
Finally, students think about the value of spending their time on things that are important and make a difference. They reflect on the following kinds of questions: What’s important to you in life? What kind of person do you want to be? Are you making progress on the goals you have set for yourself? How are you involved in your school or the community?
You can support this habit at home by helping your child to set goals, make and follow through with plans, and answer questions like those above.
The Leader in Me
K-5 students recently completed interviews for the school-wide leadership roles that they applied for, and they will begin serving in those roles during the month of October. Next time you visit the building, check out the trophy case where you will see the beautiful smiles of the Goldbugs who are serving in leadership roles each month!
