Lunar New Year 2022: Year of the Tiger
People living in China and in Chinese communities throughout the world annually celebrate the Chinese New Year. It is a 15-day festival that begins with the new moon that occurs sometime between January 21 and February 20 according to Western calendars. Festivities last until the full moon. The holiday is sometimes called the Lunar New Year because the dates of celebration follow the phases of the moon.
Home to the second-largest Chinatown on the East Coast and a vibrant Asian population, it’s no surprise that Philadelphia has many Lunar New Year celebrations each year. Check out the Lunar New Year at Dilworth Park: Saturday, January 29, 2022 | 5-7 p.m. Dilworth Park is the spot for traditional lion dances, ice skating, and a special Lunar New Year menu in the Rothman Orthopaedics Cabin. Before or after the event, explore all the winter happenings that make up this year’s Winter at Dilworth Park programming. Where: Dilworth Park, 1 S. 15th Street
