Happy Reading!

Reading - This week we will continue learning more about story elements such as setting, characters, problem, solution and events. We are using a variety of fiction and non-fiction to learn more about families and traditions. We are also learning about non-fiction text features such as table of contents and headings.
Try the Super Why Cake Maker Game at the PBSKids website. It is one of several games that encourage letter sound knowledge and spelling. http://pbskids.org/superwhy/#/game/cakegame
Our reading strategy is, Flippy the Dolphin. Try using the long or short vowel sound to help sound out unknown words.
Vocabulary Words - relative, holiday
Sight Words - are, here, was (thank you for all the extra sight word practice at home!)
Writing - We are using sight words and phonetic spelling to write about our families and special family traditions.
Phonics - We are focusing on the vowel letters a,i, o & u. We are also practicing reading and writing cvc words.
Math - We are finishing Math Topic 6 Numbers to 100. This includes counting by 1's from 0-100, counting groups of 10's as well as by 5's and 2's. This is also referred to as skip counting. You can use the hundreds chart in your child's FROG folder to practice counting and writing numbers.
We are starting Math Topic 7 Understanding Addition.
Please login to your child's math account for more practice.
