May 3-7th

Big picture

Dear Families,

Week 2 of Remote Learning is under wraps! Thank you for your continued support and assistance. We know that it is not easy, but we are all in this togther.

This week is Teacher Appreciate Week! Give your teacher a shout out by thanking them for all that they do! JPS would not be the same without our amazing educators each and every day! We truly have a wonderful, energetic, creative, and dedicated team!

We are also kicking off Mental Health week! Your wellness is important each and every day, even more during these challenging times! Please reach out if you need assistance with us helping to connect you to an appropriate agency or one of our in-school team members. We are here to help! This continues to be a focus at our school.

May is also the beginning of Speech and Hearing Month. There will be information on the whole school announcements each day for some special tips! If you are concerned or wondering about your child's hearing, please get a referral from your family doctor to take them to get their hearing checked. While you are at it, get their vision checked as well!

May the 4th be with you on Star Wars day (wear your favourite Star Wars character) and this week we will get out bodies moving during the Virtual Celebration of Dance on May 6th! Who's excited!? This challenge is for you staff, students, and families! Send your teacher or Ms. Stephen you dance videos at to be featured in next week's family newsletter.

The JPS Get Moving Club will be launching tomorrow (Monday). Fun activities can be found under classwork in the JPS 2020-21 Google Classroom each week. Need to join? No problem - just ask your teacher for the link and code or to have you added!

Please continue to complete attendance for your child if you know they will be away that day! We are still doing call-out as attendance is taken each day. Thank you in advance.

Take good care of yourselves and one another. Happy week 3 of learning!

Mrs. Paquin, Ms. Stephen, and the Jayhawk Team

Mental Health Week: May 3-9

This year, the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Mental Health Week is being observed May 3-9, 2021. The objective of Mental Health Week is to help promote behaviours and attitudes that foster well-being, support good mental health and create a culture of understanding and acceptance. The theme of this year’s Mental Health Week is #GetReal about how you feel. Recognizing, labeling and accepting our feelings are all part of protecting and promoting good mental health for everyone. Naming, expressing and dealing with our emotions—even when they’re uncomfortable—can make us feel better.

During the week of May 3-9, 2021 don’t forget to connect on social media using the hashtag #LDSBeWell and #ShareTheGood.

Coming Up:

Asymptomatic Testing for Staff and Students

As part of the Ministry of Education’s enhanced COVID-19 school protocols, school boards are required to offer voluntary asymptomatic COVID-19 testing to students, staff and bus drivers.

Families must book appointments for students using the assessment centre’s existing booking process (online or by telephone). Please ensure you use the online booking link provided below, or, if you are booking by telephone, indicate you are a Limestone student or staff member at time of booking. Walk-ins are not permitted. Testing of asymptomatic family members is also not permitted under this program.

  • Kingston Assessment Centre (KHSC) or 613.548.2376. Appointments are available from 4-4:30 p.m. daily. Should there be no registrations, or insufficient registrations, scheduled by 10 a.m. the same day, testing will be cancelled for that day. Staff will be invited to reschedule on a different testing day.
  • Napanee Assessment Centre (LACGH) or 613.354.8254. Appointments are available from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily via drive-thru.

Students may continue to attend school while awaiting asymptomatic test results provided they pass the daily COVID-19 screening.

Kindergaten September 2021 Registration Now Open! #SeeYourselfInLimestone

Spread the word about our amazing Kindergarten program and team at Joyceville Public School! We offer a full day of learning for four- and five-year-olds over a two year period in English! (Please note, the child must be 4 or 5 by the end of December!)

Our Kindergarten program aims to nurture the whole child. In our Kindergarten classroom, a teacher and an early childhood educator work together as a team. This partnership helps to create a nurturing learning environment; giving every student the opportunity to learn in the way that is best suited to their individual strengths and needs. You can feel confident your student will be cared for within safe and inclusive environments.

Now is the time to register.
