SCHOOL VALUE THIS TERM: 'TO BE RESPECTFUL'
These are for our Vogeltown learners to be:
Inclusive (Whakaru), Respectful (Whakaute), Original (Tipu), Courageous (Kaha) and Kind (Atawhai).
These values were chosen by the staff, learners and community of Vogeltown School in 2019.
This term we are focusing on being 'respectful'.
TE REO FOCUS FOR THE WEEK
KIA ORA VS WHANAU, FROM MR O
Today we celebrated our school's birthday - we turned 105 years old! We had a pyjama day as this coincided with the Ronald McDonald House PJ day and we had a dance, shared kai with our buddy classes and had a 'birthday ice block'. It was awesome to have the Vogeltown family together for this event!
On Tuesday night we had our second to last Board of Trustees meeting with the current Board. It was great to see some new faces and interest from our parents/caregivers to be on the new Board - which will take office from 14th September. If you are keen to be on the BOT and are not sure what it entails, then please contact myself or our current Board Chairperson, Mike Miners.
A reminder that next week you will receive your child(ren)s Progress report for Term 2. This is the same report you received in term 1, updated with the progress they have made over Term 2. In week 2 of Term 3 we will have learning conferences to discuss the Term 2 report/progress and set goals for Term 3. The link to book these conferences will be in the first newsletter of Term 3. Note: Room 8 will have their Learning Conferences next week as Miss Fleming is leaving. These will be done with the new teacher in Room 8, Miss Celeste McLean. Please book on the 'Skool Loop' app.
Next week is our last week of the term. I am sure we are all looking forward to getting to spend some extra time with our families and hopefully put a bit of a 2 week 'circuit breaker' in to stop the current flu, covid and cold spread amongst our learners and Kaiako.
Nga mihi nui Vogeltown whanau,
Mr O and the VS team
Hari Huritau (Happy Birthday) to us!
SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS 2022
COVID-19 UPDATE AT VOGELTOWN SCHOOL - WEEK 9, TERM 2
We have again had lots of kids away with the usual colds and coughs, but we are noticing a lot of kids with flu like symptons. If your child is unwell please keep them home from school - we have had to send a lot of kids home this week. Thanks for your support in this - we want to stop the spread of all viruses and colds, not just covid.
Our current average attendance for this term is 85.0%. This week the average attendance has been 80% - which is a sign that there is a lot of illness and flu in the community.
Please remember we are still in a pandemic and we must continue to keep being vigilant with hand washing and keeping safe.

We are very lucky to have Tracy from Parafed come in and work with Rm 10, Mrs Melody and our team.
One of school values is being inclusive, and we love the way Tracy promotes this and shows us ways we can do this with games!
ENROLMENTS 2022/2023
Parents/caregivers are encouraged to pre-enrol their children now for late 2022 and 2023.
If you know of any families in zone who are wanting to have a child start this year, please encourage them to make contact with the office.
Applications for out of zone enrolments for 2023 must be received by 4.00pm on Friday 30 September 2022 but in zone enrolments are also requested by this date.
MR O'S FRIENDLY REMINDERS
1) Please remember to contact the school office if your child is absent or going to be late. You can report absences via Skool Loop, text 021 753 680 or ph 06 753 6843. Please do not use SeeSaw for student absences - these must come through the office.
2) Please be courteous before and after school with parking around the school sites. We have lots of kids and not enough parks, so please allow time to get to school and be patient around the streets.
Thanks whanau
Stay safe and be kind to each other. Thank you for the ongoing support of Vogeltown School, we appreciate the community we live in.
