January 11 - Science Fair Projects Due
Dear Bobcat Families,
December is here! This month is filled with busy activities at home and school. As a school community, we are focused on building empathy in our community. Please check the calendar our Kindness Crew sent home this week with activities to practice empathy at home.
Our Kindness Crew is continuing to sponsor a Donation Drive to help students share their kindness with those in need. Our donations will be given to The Caring Place, which helps Plano ISD families with basic needs through our Welcome & Enrollment Center. We have met our school wide goal of 1,000 donated items, and now we are setting the goal to 2,000 items this month. Thank you in advance for collecting and donating. The flyer below has more information about what can be donated. We will continue to collect donations until December 20th.
As part of Plano ISD’s ongoing strategic roadmapping process and as the district begins work on a long range facility plan, Plano ISD families, staff and community members are invited to attend and participate in community input meetings. The district has a website with more detailed information and dates for the meetings: https://www.pisd.edu/facilityroadmap.

Long Range Facility Planning Community Input Meetings
As part of Plano ISD’s ongoing strategic roadmapping process and as the district begins work on a long range facility plan, Plano ISD families, staff and community members are invited to attend and participate in a community input meeting near you. Meetings are conveniently located at six locations throughout the district (see dates and times below).
In May 2023, the Plano ISD Board of Trustees approved the new Strategic Roadmap that is inclusive of a long range plan. As such, the plan includes a strategy to study current facilities, enrollment and programs. This study will:
Assess all of our schools,
Analyze student enrollment at each school,
Evaluate high-quality programming,
Consider whether buildings are being used effectively and
Determine whether resources are fairly distributed to support all students.
The result of the study may lead to restructuring, or “rightsizing,” school sites to better serve students. Rightsizing may involve closing school buildings or adjusting attendance boundaries within the feeder pattern to allow for a more equitable disbursement of district resources. Ultimately, the study of school building capacity will be for the purpose of supporting thriving schools, classrooms, students, teachers and school leaders.
So why are we doing this work?
District enrollment has been steadily declining over the last 12 years. Our peak enrollment was in 2012 at 55,700 students and our current enrollment is 47,800.
Some of the reasons for this decline include:
The rising costs of homes (the average home in Plano ISD is $584,000);
Growth in districts to our north (whose average home costs are lower than Plano ISD);
A decrease in birth rates; which has led to
Larger graduating classes than incoming kindergarten classes.
Visit www.pisd.edu/facilityroadmap for more information, including Frequently Asked Questions.

Donation Drive for the Caring Place – Now through December 20
During the months of November and December, Beverly Bobcats are learning about the character traits of gratitude and empathy. The Beverly Kindness Crew, in partnership with the Beverly PTA and Beverly Cares Program, will have a donation drive for The Caring Place. The Caring Place is a Plano ISD sponsored program designed to help families navigate the enrollment and transfer process and remove barriers to education. The center connects families to community and state resources, hosts immunization clinics and helps with immediate needs. The Caring Place serves as a food pantry and clothes closet, and is made possible by the generosity of our community. Thank you to those of you who have already donated! The “Beverly Way” is the BEST way!
We are also raising our prize goals to achieve 1,000 items and 2,000 items. Stay tuned for the reward for our Beverly Bobcats!!!
PLEASE NOTE: Dented and expired items cannot be accepted. Please make sure donated items are good for an extended time. We also are not able to accept individual items that have been taken out of a variety or multi-pack. (IE: individual bags of gummy snack bags must be in their complete package or an individual pack of crackers is not accepted). These items will not be counted in a grade level’s totals.
December Counselor's Corner
Hey Beverly Scientists! You still have time to turn in your intent slips to get an official handbook if you would like to do a project.
Due Date: January 11, 2024
This is your chance to show your science skills!! You can investigate a topic that is interesting to you. We sent home intent slips before Thanksgiving Break. If you can't find it, and need another one, let your teacher know.
Every year we love to see all the creative ideas our Bobcats show in their projects. We will display them in the hallway for everyone to enjoy.
Happy Experimenting Bobcats!
Cold/Flu season is here! Let’s keep those germs away by covering our mouths when we cough/sneeze, avoid touching our eyes/nose/mouth as much as possible and always remember to wash our hands. As another reminder, students must be free of fever/diarrhea/vomiting for 24 hours before returning to school.
Since all classrooms now have locked doors, practicing good self-hygiene along with the tips listed above, help prevent germs and smells from being trapped inside.
If your child receives a change of clothes during the day, please clean and return the items to the clinic.
If you are dropping off a lunch for your child, please deliver it by 11:00. If you are staying for lunch, please arrive on time so your student has plenty of time to eat.
