Literacy Updates
Happy Monday CBLT's,
It's hard to believe that next week is our last week of class for the Standards Based Instruction Module. So far, each of your teams has done an outstanding job, and our literacy team is extremely pleased with the level of commitment that each of you has with implementing the initiatives outlined in our grant. Thank you so much! Due to testing on last week, I did not send out a newsletter, so this one includes a lot of highlights for you. Happy Reading and see you online!
- Use this week to catch up on any missed assignments. This includes completion of your Planning Worksheet that is due at the May 30th GIT meeting.
- The last day of class is on May 6th. Even though your CBLT may not meet until later in the week, please designate someone to complete your assignment and submit it in the workgroup.
- All CBLT members should complete the Tests/Quizzes on May 6th. Failure to do so could result in you not receiving course credit and receiving a course completion certificate. Remember, Tests/Quizzes are taken individually.
- If you require a substitute teacher for the Grant Implementation Team meeting, go ahead and place that request now. TLI will cover the costs for all CBLT members needing subs for that day.
- Middle school ELA teachers will travel to Ojeda Middle School on Thursday, May 9th, to observe Writing Workshop in action.
Gentle Reminder for TLI Summer Institute Survey
If you haven't done so already, please complete the questionnaire for participation in the TLI Summer Institute. This survey should be completed on or before Wednesday, May 1st. Our Literacy Team is in the process of registering all Manor ISD CBLTs and need this information to complete registration for our district. The TLI Strands & Descriptions were forwarded to you in previous emails and placed on our Manor Literacy Line's Edmodo page for easy access. You will need this information to complete the survey. Please choose strands specific to your literacy line. If you have any questions regarding the form, please do not hesitate to contact Felicia or Laurie. We will be more than welcome to assist you as you navigate through the process.

We have 100 2nd grade students signed up for our TLI Summer Reading Academy, which will take place at the MES campus from June 10th though June 28th. We are very excited to be able to offer this summer program using our TLI grant funds to support our rising 3rd graders. Our reading interventionists will be delivering the lessons.
Our teachers and interventionists have been providing us with lots of specific feedback on our programs and materials used this year so we can plan and improve for next year.
We are always working to find ways to improve our strategies and delivery of instruction for our students. Remember our goal is to improve Tier 1 instructions to all students so we have fewer Tier 2 & Tier 3 students who need intervention services.
Here are photos of the writing score graphic and descriptors used by PME students to give peer feedback in Ms Vanzura's 4th grade class.
