Gina Mallory and Cynthia Weintraub keep us up to date with training, policies, and ensure our students and schools are healthy! They have been instrumental in helping us navigate COVID.

Division 1 Math Pentathlon Tournament
WBSD Kindergarten and 1st Grade students competed on May 7 at Walled Lake Northern HS and all of the students did great! They all played with great sportsmanship and performed very well! Out of 15 students total from Doherty and Gretchko, we had 3 students receive a medal and 3 honorable mentions!

The next Tournament will be for Grades 4-7 on Saturday, May 14 at Stoney Creek High School. There are 18 students representing Roosevelt, Scotch, Sheiko, and West Bloomfield Middle School.
Updated OCHD -19 COVID guidance as of 3/15/22
Post surge recovery phase
ISOLATION
If you test positive for COVID-19 or have symptoms (vaccinated or unvaccinated)
Monitor for symptoms for 10 days AND
Isolate for 5 days
Can return to school on day 6 IF
Symptoms are improving AND
Can/will wear a well-fitted mask for day 6-10 OR
Stay home for 10 days IF
Symptoms do not improve
Unable to wear a mask
If you have a fever, stay home until you are fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications.
QUARANTINE
Exposed at home/household/community (vaccinated or unvaccinated)
Wear a mask for 10 days post exposure
Monitor for symptoms for 10 days
Test 3-7 days after exposure and/or if symptoms develop
School exposure (vaccinated or unvaccinated)
Consider wearing a mask for 10 days
Monitor for symptoms for 10 days
Test if symptoms develop
If your student has possible COVID-19 symptoms, tests positive for COVID-19, or has had known COVID-19 exposure, please reach out to your student’s campus prior to sending them back to school for further guidance.
WBSD Preschool Crew
WBSD Early Childhood staff participated in the MIAEYC Annual Early Childhood Conference. Jen Philleo, GSRP teacher has been with WBSD for 7 years. She presented on How to Mitigate the Negative Impacts of ACEs in the Early Childhood classroom.

Graphically Diverse YA Graphic Novel Club
Wednesday, May 18 at 7 p.m. via Zoom
Young adults in 9-12 grade are invited to join in this discussion about the graphic novel Be More Chill by Ned Vizzini and David Levithan. Before the meeting, pick up a kit that contains a copy of the graphic novel--yours to keep--a snack, and a small surprise that ties in with the book. Registration required.
