8:50 - Gates Open

9:20 - Gates Close

Breakfast starts at 8:50. The best time to get to school is 9:05 in the morning.

Picking up early: Our students are engaged in learning until school hours are over. Please try to limit your child's early withdrawal from school. If an appointment is impossible to schedule outside of school hours, give your child time to organize their backpack and come to the office. We do not call the students to the office until you arrive to minimize loss of instructional time. Knowing your child's teacher and/or schedule will make the exit process much quicker. No students will be released 30 minutes before the end of school hours.

Breakfast and lunch prices: Free breakfast - 8:50-9:15.

Lunch $2.40. Reduced lunch $.40 (based on income)

Milk $.75, Juice $.50, Water $.75 (prices are subject to change).

School Agendas: Agendas are required for all students. PTA will provide one for each student who will be delivered on the first day of class. If lost, the replacement is $5.

Become a school volunteer: OASIS is our district's volunteer program. If you are interested in volunteering at school, you can sign up on the district website under Parents where you will see a link to Oasis. You can also access it directly at: https://www.osceolaschools.net/domain/94. OASIS approval is required to participate in a school trip or volunteer anywhere on campus. Approval takes a few weeks and applications need to be renewed each school year.

History: The Celebration School was opened in 1996 as a K-12 school. The TownHall building at 851 Celebration Avenue was the first location. In 1997 the current campus was opened and there were two additional buildings. When Celebration High School opened in 2003, Celebration School became a K-8 school. The two schools have different attendance zones. In 2010, a renovation project was initiated to equalize classroom space and add technological tools for teaching. Last year, our school recognized the diversity of our global and local community by starting a Dual Language program in the Pre-K – 2nd grades.

Celebration School has been classified as an "A" school for 18 consecutive years. We are proud of our students and teachers as they continually strive for academic excellence. Parents are invited to participate through our PTA providing events, or the School Advisory Committee (SAC) that guides our school improvement. Parents are encouraged to participate in both PTA and SAC. The first meetings are usually in September. We have many business partners who support our school. If your business wants to partner with us, please let us know.

We look forward to a positive partnership as we embark on your child's education. We are happy to have your family join our Celebration family - GO PRIDE!

Dress Code and Uniforms

Dress Code information can be found in the SDOC Code of Student Conduct or by clicking below for the uniform policy. In addition to SDOC district shirt colors (navy, blue or white), CK8 students may wear Hunter Green or Gold shirts.

In compliance with SDOC policy, students are permitted to wear a Celebration K-8 sponsored spirit shirt on Fridays and College or Military shirts on Wednesdays as part of our AVID school program. Celebration School sells school hoodies and spirit shirts that can be ordered through our PTA.

The following is an excerpt from our Student Code of Conduct regarding dress code.

Bottoms:

Bottoms shall consist of navy blue, black, or khaki (tan) pair of long pants, skirt, walking shorts, slacks, skorts, jumper, or similar clothing and must be denim, corduroy, or twill fabric. Colored trim, stripes, or decorations will not be allowed. A small logo is acceptable. Pants, shorts, and skirts shall be worn so that the waistband is worn at the waist and not below the waist. Shorts, skirts, dresses, and skorts shall extend to mid-thigh. Bottoms shall not be excessively distressed or altered in a manner that shows skin or undergarments. Athletic shorts, including spandex-style “bicycle” shorts, cut-off jeans or pants, cut-off sweatpants, short shorts, running shorts, and jogger athletic pants are not permitted. Sweatpants, yoga pants, and see-through boxer-type shorts are not permitted. Undergarments must not be visible.

Unacceptable Attire:

Students are not allowed to wear clothing, jewelry (including body piercing jewelry and “grills”), buttons, haircuts, tattoos, makeup, or other attire or markings, which are offensive, suggestive, disruptive, or indecent such as:

1. Clothing associated with gangs.

2. Clothing that encourages the use of drugs, alcohol, or violence.

3. Clothing associated with discrimination on the basis of age, color, disability, national origin, sexual orientation, marital status, race, religion, or sex.

4. Clothing exposing the torso or upper thighs such as see-through garments, mini-skirts or minidresses, halters, backless dresses, tube tops or tank tops without over shirts, spaghetti strap garments without over shirts, bare midriff outfits, or shirts or blouses tied at the midriff.

5. Clothing not properly fastened or with tears.

Student Schedules Released July 27th through Focus

Student schedules went live in Focus (our student information system) on July 27th. If you are a returning parent, you can log into Focus to see your child's schedule. If you are a new parent, you will need to create a Focus account. You can access directions for creating a parent portal account on our school web site.

Please note that schedules are being released well in advance of the first day of school. Because the hiring of teachers is not a simple or quick process, you may notice that your child's schedule lists "VACANT" in the place of the teacher's name. This is temporary until all of our nearly hired and transferred teachers get inputted into the computer system. Rest assured, we are finalizing our hiring and schedules will be updated as quickly as possible.

Some final points regarding schedules:

  • There may be changes made as we continue to balance class sizes.
  • No requests for changes will be made until after the first five days of class.
  • For middle school - if your child is missing a core academic class (math, science, reading, social studies) or is listed in the wrong grade, please contact us and we will make the change immediately.
  • Middle school elective issues or questions will be addressed during school lunches with guidance counselors and the assistant principals after the first week of school.

Scheduling students in a school this size is a massive undertaking, especially while continuing to register new students. Thank you for your patience as we continue this process!

Immunizations

Please note that students must have proof of all state-required school immunizations prior to being allowed to attend school this year. There is no longer a waiver in place. Please check this document carefully for all required immunizations.

Home/School Communication

We are excited to share that the School District of Osceola County uses Remind schoolwide! If you're not already familiar with Remind, it's a classroom communication tool that makes it easy to stay involved with your child's learning. Remind is free to use, and you'll be able to receive and send messages on any device—even a simple text from your phone!

Teacher accounts will automatically be created once school begins. In the meantime, you can opt into our schoolwide Remind notification system by texting @ sdocck8s to 81010. You'll immediately receive a text confirming you've joined the school or class. If you don't already have the Remind app, click the texted link to download it. If you already have the app on your phone, open it to see the school or class you just joined.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

We know. It's everyone's favorite topic of discussion and everyone has strong feelings about it. We do, too! We feel our families always come together for what is important including the safety our children and our community.

Celebration K8 has a large student population and this can make arrival and dismissal times very busy. Our students' safety is always our top priority and, to that end, we strongly encourage you to follow our procedures designed to keep everyone safe and to move traffic as efficiently as possible. We know your time is valuable and we will make every effort to honor that. The safety of our children, however, will always come first.

Below is a PDF of our arrival and dismissal procedures. Please read carefully and contact us with any questions. The first week of school you will experience delays as everyone acclimates to the procedures. Please remember to be patient as we will have new families learning our routines.

You may find the Pre-K through Grade 5 list at the link below. **Please note we do not require a 3" binder for students in grades 3 - 5.** Please purchase a 1.5 or 2" binder instead as these are smaller and lighter.
