NFDL Curriculum
Please click this link for the work that will be taking place over the next 3-5 years. This document outlines 3 phases that make up the process.
NFDL Assessment
Our district uses a Balanced Assessment System approach (summative, benchmark, formative) to assessing student learning. We value multiple measures of data, as opposed to using one source of information.
- There is a new state assessment that has been taking place at the start of the year. Students new to the country new to take a WIDA Screener test. This is in addition to the ACCESS test. Our EL Specialists have been administering these assessments.
- ACCESS Testing begins December 4th
Local Benchmark Assessments/Screeners
- The month of September was heavy with STAR testing, Fountas & Pinnell testing, and Reading Readiness testing.
- This information gives us a starting point. We expect these results to change after several months of our instruction.
- Thank you for everyone's help with administering and collecting this valuable information.
Formative Assessments
- Formative Assessments - Daily/Ongoing
- There are the most important pieces of information that we collect.
- How do you know where level your students are at right now?

NFDL Instruction
If we are not establishing clear learning targets, ensuring questioning matches grade level standards and/or giving students effective feedback about their learning, we are putting our students at a disadvantage. There is no research to support you if you are not using these strategies in your classroom. These are the instructional look-fors in all classrooms.
We not longer focus on what we are teaching, our focus is on what students are learning.
- District Definition - Differentiation = Responding to Student Needs.
- District Definition - Data = Any Information About a Student.

Effectiveness Project - My Learning Plan
We believe in using instructionally sound practices to impact student learning, not to impact the Effectiveness Project. If we do this, our work in Frontline will take care of itself.
All uploads to Frontline should be PDFs. Google documents can be easily downloaded as PDFs (please ask if you don't know how to do this). Using PDFs eliminates any concerns accessing documents or sharing rights.
