Scotland County Schools Students and Staff are adjusting to life back in school fully after almost 2 years of virtual/hybrid learning
The benefits of in-person school are much greater than the risks in almost every way. Schools are safe, stimulating, and enriching places to be while parents or guardians are working.
Children and adolescents receive more than just academics. They also learn social and emotional skills, get exercise, and have access to mental health and other support services. For many families, schools are where kids get healthy meals, access to the internet, and other vital services.
School closures were especially hard for children with disabilities, children living in poverty, and children who are Black, Hispanic/Latino, and American Indian/Alaska Native.
Families, schools, and communities can work together to help ensure students can safely remain physically together in school, where they need to be. This includes making sure everyone who is eligible gets the COVID-19 vaccine, influenza vaccine and other routine childhood and adolescent vaccines. It means wearing a face mask, staying home when we are sick and doing what we can to keep others safe around us. When everyone does their part, the whole community wins.

With the assistance of federal funding, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) is offering optional, on-site COVID-19 testing for all public, private and charter school students and educators administered by experienced health care professionals.
"MAKO Medical is proud to partner with NCDHHS and implement the department's new testing program known as StrongSchoolsNC K-12 COVID-19 Testing. This program will operate throughout the 2021-2022 school year."

Child Nutrition changes every year. The last two years have been very challenging.
In the first eight months of the pandemic the cafeterias along with transportation, custodians and
School personnel delivered one million meals to the children of Scotland County.
This included hot lunches cooked daily.
While we are not serving as many meals now we are serving, Grab-n-Go Breakfast, meals in the hallway,
Classroom and dining room.
Our ladies and gentlemen show their dedication to the children daily through their hard work,
Professionalism and service.
