Parent Newsletter-January 13th, 2023
Dear Worthington Park Families,
Happy Friday Park Sharks! What a WONDERFUL week here at Worthington Park. Our students were able to show such resilience as they transitioned back to a five day school week. As we look forward to the rest of the winter and early spring, we are excited to celebrate big school events and provide unique experiences for our Park Sharks.
Below are a few quick messages and reminders for the coming week. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out to our main office or me directly. Have a great weekend, and GO SHARKS!

Conferences will be held after school each night with conference later into the evening on Tuesday, February 7th and Thursday, February 9th. More information will be coming soon!
Book Fair Conference Week- Volunteers Needed
We are bringing back the Spring book fair during conference week, February 6-10! We had a great response from volunteers for the Fall fair. Please sign up to volunteer for the Spring fair if you are interested! Your help is greatly appreciated!
Middle School Music Introduction
Traditionally, Worthington elementary students have had the opportunity to preview music program electives prior to middle school scheduling in the spring. Introductions to our 6th grade music offerings of band, orchestra, and choir allow students to make informed choices about these electives when they engage in the middle school scheduling process. We are excited to continue to allow our 5th grade students the opportunity to learn more about options available to them in middle school.
On the morning of Wednesday, January 25th, unless you have previously indicated that your child should not participate in field trips, 5th grade students will travel to Thomas Worthington High School to watch a short performance highlighting our music options in advance of middle school scheduling. Students will be transported by bus to the TWHS auditorium at approximately 9:15 a.m. and will return prior to lunch periods beginning. Should you have questions, concerns, or not want your child to participate, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
More in depth information about middle school scheduling will be shared in the coming months. Parents/guardians will be informed of the scheduling process and students are not making decisions regarding electives at this time.
We look forward to this opportunity for our students.
Worthington Science Day 2023
This year’s K-12 Science Day will be held on Saturday, February 25th, 2023 at Thomas Worthington High School. Science Day has grown to include a number of different options for students. The events planned for the 2023 science day include: Science Fair, Invention Convention, Design Challenge, and a Cubing Competition. To sign up to volunteer or judge, register students to participate, or learn more, visit the Science Day website (www.worthington.k12.oh.us/ScienceDay).
Winter Weather Reminder
We know that cold temperatures are headed our way. We encourage all parents to start sending students with coats, hats, and gloves in their bookbags daily. As a school- we always try to utilize our beautiful grounds and playground as much as possible. Even in winter months, our students will be going outside as long as the temperature at or above 20 degrees. Below is more information from our District Elementary Handbook. Thank you for helping keep our Park Sharks warm!
Weather and health permitting, we expect all children to go outside for recess. In our schools, when the weather is dry/dry enough, and the temperature is 20 degrees or higher, real temperature, or wind-chill, we plan to take students outside for recess. It is critically important that parents/guardians send students appropriately dressed for the weather conditions and seasons.
