Lil Steamer Families --
Construction is moving along at the Greatest Little Elementary School in the Universe! Excavators have been working away and been a major attraction for our Lil Steamers who are fascinated by the heavy machinery.
Thank you so much for the grace and flexibility you have shown with the changes to our morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up procedures. The whole process has gone very smoothly and we appreciate you!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks to all the parents who sent in Valentine's with their students this week, I was happy to receive several. 💗💟💗 Some appeared on my desk while I was out and about for the day and others were handed to me by grinning kiddos.
I've been noticing more "above and beyond" behaviors from students throughout the elementary. As I give out House points I try to call or email and let parents know how proud I am of their student. 🏆 I enjoy making positive contacts with parents!!

Children need high quality time with parents and caregivers as it will have a positive effect on them as they grow. Here are some tips for spending high quality time with your children:
Have a daily “connect” time with your child. Do this face-to-face, if possible; but if this isn’t an option, create a routine for doing so in other ways, such as leaving a note in your child’s lunch bag, posting a note by his/her toothbrush, or writing an encouraging saying on a shared whiteboard in the house.
Create a special ritual for you and your child—something that can be done every day. For example, let your child choose and read one book with you at bedtime.
Tell your child you love him/her every day. Tell him/her how important they are to you and how they make you feel.

Kindergarten Cardiology in KA
Kindergarten students had a great day as they were transformed in Doctors of Cardiology.
Students "operated" as they learned about CVC words and solved math problems. Students used stethoscopes to hear syllables in words. They were even able to check their pulse rate and oxygen levels. Special thanks to Morrison Community Hospital for the surgical hats, gloves, and masks. Also thank you to Lynne Coffey and CGH in Sterling for the surgical gowns, suckers and Chapstick! Your generosity made our day perfect!
Kindergarten Cardiology in KB
Today we had our very first Kindergarten Cardiology Day!!! We transformed our classroom into an operating room. KB kiddos "operated" by sewing color words, completing math facts, and cvc words. Students were also tapping stethoscopes for a syllable count for hospital words. Thank you to Jane Bowman for coming into our classroom and sharing about her recent pinkie surgery. We would like to thank our KB parents and grandparents for the Operation games, syringe pens, stethoscopes, gloves, and hats. Thank you to Mrs. Letcher for our heart snack. A BIG thank you to Lynne Coffey of CGH for our surgical gowns and Chapstick!! Thank you to Linda Rogis for our heart bracelets!!! We love classroom transformations!!!

Fun times in 3B
This week in 3rd grade we read a story called One Plastic Bag. In the story they turn a plastic bag into something useful like a purse. In 3rd grade we turned them into a bracelet. This was easy for some and more difficult for others which then turned into a nice SEL lesson on perseverance.
