Welcome to SBM! – Message from Mr. Rivera

Hello, incoming 9th graders and 10th graders (and parents)!

The Dallas ISD Board met on Thursday, July 23, 2020, to review/approve several agenda items. Below is a recap of what was approved, which affects the return of students to the 2020-2021 school year.

1. Classes start September 8 (virtually or in-person per district direction)

2. No Fair Day holiday (Sorry, no corny dog or turkey leg...wah wah.)

3. November 3 is now a holiday (Get out and vote! Be safe.)

4. 9-week grading periods (4 total)

5. June 18 is the last school day

On September 8, instruction may continue virtually (pending approval by the Superintendent and Board of Trustees). The Townview administrators are working collaboratively to create a master schedule to address all campuses at Townview. We will share as it becomes final in the coming weeks. In addition, a Curb-to-Classroom Guide is also being developed for the staff when in-person instruction resumes. Each campus is different and the guide will be tailored to fit Townview's student needs.

Again, as we near the return to school date, we will provide notice of how instruction will be provided.

News from the Townview Librarian!

Welcome to the Townview Library! We are here for you this summer and into the coming school year, no matter the situation. You can find us online at or through Twitter and Instagram @townviewlibrary with book recommendations, news in YA reading, database access, test-prep info, how-tos, and research help. The library has always been a digital hybrid, only a click away. Reach out to your librarian, Ms. Cunningham through social or at whenever you have a question!

When we aren't circulating new books and magazines to students and staff, we keep an awesome (and FREE!) digital library up and running through SORA, an App by Overdrive. Our students and staff have access to thousands of audiobooks and ebooks at all grade levels, shareable across the entire district. The SORA App is free to download on any device, but can also be reached at :: SORA can also link to your public library card through the APP, so you can have one app for two libraries!

To log-in, students need to first search for Townview Magnet in DISD as their school, then use the following credentials:
Username: Student ID#
Pin: Last 4 digits of student ID#

Take care and stay safe. See you soon!
