Girls Coding Opportunity
About Us: Code CS (Cardinal Outreach to Diversify and Educate in Computer Science) is an initiative sponsored by the National Center for Women in Information Technology and led by a group of passionate, tech-savvy high school students. The girls who participate will be introduced to programming through Code.org and App Inventor. They will create their own apps while developing critical skills such as teamwork, problem solving, and the agile mindset. The girls will also hear from guest speakers with successful careers in technology thanks to our partnership with Code.org. We hope that early exposure will catalyze gender diversity in the fields of engineering and computer science.
Location: Middleton High School (2100 Bristol Street | Middleton, WI 53562)
Cost: Free
Age range: Grades 4 through 8
When: Saturday evenings 3:30-5:00 pm. We will meet twice a month beginning on November 4th, and will deliver our curriculum over the course of eight sessions.

Students enjoyed being archaeologists searching the classroom for artifacts this week. Take a look at the video below for highlights.
Next week students will use a matrix to organize information about European explorers identifying where they came from, where they traveled to, and what they discovered. Students will then analyze the information to determined if the explorers were 'good men'.
Essential Question: Where the explorers 'good men'?
Math
Students also experienced a "Taste of Math" where they participated in various math games. From race car decimals to 'I'm the Greatest' students worked well together at each station. Take a look at the video below for highlights.
