Florence 1 Schools: Offering Academic Choices for Students
West Florence STEM Magnet Program
The West Florence STEM Magnet Program is now accepting applications from eighth grade students for the 2020-2021 school year. Applications may be found and completed on the West Florence High School webpage or you may use the link below:

The deadline for submission of applications is Friday, February 14, 2020.
Southside Middle School Fine Arts Technology Academy
Southside Middle School has announced that applications are available for enrollment in the Southside Middle School Fine Arts and Technology Academy.
The program provides courses in media arts, fundamentals of computing, photography, dance, piano, guitar, creative writing as well as other fine arts offerings.
Applications are available in hard copy and online at www.f1s.org/Southside.
Interested sixth grade students in Florence 1 Schools and their parents should attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, February 25 at 6:00 p.m. in the Southside Middle Media Center.
Applications should be submitted by March 13, 2020, with auditions for the program scheduled for the week of April 14, 2020.

Communication 2020
Delmae Elementary Behavioral Health Counselor Leslie Myers McCall has an article titled "Communication" published in the Savvy Magazine. Read the article in its entirety in the January 2020 issue. McCall also serves as a counselor at a local counseling center in Florence.
Florence 1 Seeks Input through Surveys
The information collected from parents of elementary school students will be analyzed to help bring an understanding to the potential interest in a modified school calendar.
All surveys must be submitted by Friday, January 17th, 2020.
S. Porter Stewart Recognized for 25 Years of School Board Service
Mr. Stewart received recognition at the January 16th Board of Trustees meeting for having served on the Florence 1 Schools Board of Trustees for 25 years.
According to the SCSBA, veteran school board members provide vision and valuable leadership for school districts and dedication to improving student achievement in their local communities.

Schools Closed in Observance of the King Holiday
Schools will be closed on Monday, January 2Oth in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 21st.
