Virginia Mathematics Pathways Initiative (VMPI) – Community Informational Sessions
As LCPS prepares for the release of the 2023 Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) Mathematics Standards and the implementation of the Virginia Mathematics Pathways Initiative (VMPI), families should be aware of the proposed changes to the Mathematics course offerings. To understand the proposed changes to the course progressions, VDOE is offering Community Informational Sessions.
A series of one-hour VMPI Community Informational Sessions will be held during the next several months to provide parents and community members an opportunity to learn more about the Virginia Mathematics Pathways Initiative. The sessions will take place on the following dates:
- Tuesday, April 27, 2021, 6:30 p.m. - Essential Concepts in Grades 8 - 10
- Tuesday, May 25, 2021, 6:30 p.m. - Advanced Pathways in Grades 11 - 12
All sessions will be live streamed on the VDOE’s YouTube Channel beginning at 6:30pm with a 20-minute presentation from members of the VMPI Planning Committees and will follow with time for facilitators to respond to questions from the community. Questions participants would like to have addressed during the sessions can be submitted here. For additional information, visit the Virginia Mathematics Pathways Initiative (VMPI) webpage periodically, as additional information will be added as the initiative progresses. The Virginia Mathematics Pathways Initiative Informational Video provides valuable information about the initiative.

PTSO News!
As we have shared, the cancellation of all our events and fundraisers since March 2020 has virtually wiped out most of our PTSO funds, impacting this year and next! Our school-wide fundraiser has had limited participation, so…
OUR PTSO URGENTLY NEEDS YOUR HELP!
Without significantly more funding, we will not be able to properly fund the top three priority items on our list: Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week (May 3-7), Senior Celebration (sometime post-graduation in lieu of Operation Grad Night), and critical rollover funding to bridge back-to-school needs to ensure a strong start next school year. Respectfully, we are asking for your help! While this is entirely optional, we hope every family can choose whatever way is within your means:
- Donate gift cards for Teacher Appreciation Week, $10-$20 denominations (pls deliver to office by this Wednesday, April 28th!
- Donate money either via Zelle(bod@rrhsptso.com), or PayPal (@rrhsptso) or mail/drop Check payable to: RRHS PTSO
- Donate food items & volunteer during TAW. Sign-up links HERE
Thank you for doing what you can to help, and as always, for your support of our students! Together, WE Rise!
