Thanksgiving Prayer
Lord, on this special day of thankfulness,
we thank you not only for the delicious food,
lovingly prepared and presented,
but also for special gifts
you’ve given to this family —
loved ones we cherish dearly,
a comfortable place to live,
the beauty that surrounds us,
material pleasures,
health, spiritual wealth,
and so much more.
How can we show our gratitude for
the countless blessings you’ve provided?
We thank you for giving us clear direction,
through your holy word
on how to show our appreciation,
by obeying Your commands
and by loving and serving our neighbors.
Thank you, Lord.

The Important Stuff
The best, and cutest answers come from the kids. They also remind us that the important things are not those that can be bought on Black Friday. So I put it to students and staff.
What are you thankful for this year?
- Family because I care for them and they take care of me. Kindergarten student
- I’m thankful for my baby cousin because she’s cute and she’s a baby. Brooklyn Rymer, kindergarten
- I’m thankful for my principal, my family and my friends, and my friend, Hasset. Can I have some chips? -Salma 2nd
- My friends and family. - Hasset. 2nd
- I am thankful for God. - Lam 2nd
- I am thankful for admin who brings in donuts! No, I’m kidding…well, I’m not kidding, but my real ones would be thankful for my life, and thankful for my mental health. - Mr. Sonny, school counselor.
- I am thankful for being at St. Therese. I have really enjoyed my time at the school and enjoy seeing the kids laugh and play during class. -Coach Neri
- I'm thankful for the BEST Principal ever!! -Mrs. Barnett, registrar (She was bribed to say that.)
- I am thankful for all of you . As well and the wonderful students . Señora Claudia, Spanish teacher.
- My gratitude for this year is for support. Like ripples on the water, the rings of support that make life manageable and joyful. Starting with the smallest and closest ring and moving toward the shore; family, friends, church, co-workers, neighbors, grocers, doctors, dentists, mechanics, and on and on…people supporting each other day in and day out. Ms. McLean - Reading support specialist
I want to take a moment, on behalf of all of us, to express our gratitude to Father Jeff. In a short 15 months or so, he has put his heart and soul into this community. He's engaged with the students, brought back school masses led by students and student altar servers, showed up to student sports games, willingly gotten into a dunk tank to raise money for charity, among many other community events. He has believed in the power of this community and proved it, by investing when others might have said no. When I thought a counselor would be a long shot, but pitched it to Father Jeff anyway, he saw the value there and said yes. We brought in Mr. Rymer and began building the foundation of what we know will become a powerhouse of a tech/robotics program. Father Jeff said, "yes" knowing that good things don't happen by accident. After all that, I tried my luck one more time, and awkwardly asked what he thought about bringing foreign languages back, if, one at a time. Check.
On a personal note, Father Jeff gave me a chance to be in this position of principal by hiring me. It's a tough job because there is so much responsibility, but it's one that I have come to love deeply. I love the kids and I love the diversity of our community. I can't imagine working elsewhere, and I have Father Jeff to thank. We began this journey together. He never wavered, always committed to our students, parishioners and everyone in between. He taught me about leadership and patience, deepened my faith in Christ and the Church, and became a really good friend along the way. While his new assignment is bittersweet for many of us, myself included, I am choosing gratitude over sadness, to have shared my first year at St. Therese with such an incredible leader and person of God. Thank you, Father Jeff.
I hope everyone has a wonderful, long, restful, weekend, whichever way you choose to celebrate the holiday. Not always my strong suit, but I encourage you to lead with gratitude. Someone smarter than I am once said, "it's not happiness that makes us grateful, but gratitude that makes us happy."
With gratitude and happiness,
Principal Schoning

THANK YOU!!!!
In 5 short days, you and your students contributed 2,015 items to our annual St. Vincent de Paul food drive! That will brighten the dark, cold months for many families. Remember too, that of those many items, there were many turkeys, hams, and other large items! Mrs. Baumbach, who heads up the Student Council made a point this year to disregard lavish prizes for the students and classes who brought in the most food. I thought it was a testament to our students that they were still motivated, and very eager to give to others, just to help! We try our best to reinforce those values, but really they start at home, so hats off to you all and this community.
From Ms. Hatter, our local St. Vincent de Paul director and organizer of the food drive. "St Vincent de Paul thanks St Therese School for your generosity. We received approximately 1825 pounds of food, including a dozen turkeys. This allowed us to give a turkey for Thanksgiving to every family that wanted one. God bless you and your family this holiday season."
Get in touch with us.
As always, please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Mrs. Barnett, our registrar and office manager knows all! Call, email, or drop by and just say hello.
