COMMUNITY LION'S ROAR!

June 2022

Please join me in congratulating our Lindenwold Lion Teachers of the Year. I can say I have had the honor of being in each of these individuals' classrooms or observed them in action throughout this school year, and yes, they do deserve to be celebrated!!!! Our educators are the #1 greatest influence on student learning and knowing our children are in such great hands each day is why I am able to do my job and put my head on the pillow in peace each night.

So, thank you!

Thank you for all each of you do to support the students, staff, your colleagues, and our community. It truly takes a village, and we are humbled to work alongside you on our Lion Team!

TEACHERS OF THE YEAR 2022

TEACHERS OF THE YEAR 2022

Melissa Bates – Preschool

Melissa has been a devoted member of the Preschool staff for the last four years. She always interacts with students in a loving, kind and a respectful way. She invests time into forming positive relationships with her students and their families. Melissa is dedicated to enriching the lives of her students and will take every measure to accomplish this goal. She is always willing to support her colleagues and assist wherever needed. In her short time here, she has proven to be an asset to the preschool family. We are very fortunate to have her as a part of our team.

Nasima Tukhi – School 4

Nasima Tukhi’s parents immigrated to America when the Soviet Union attacked Afghanistan. Her parents instilled in her to always work hard for what she wanted and to be kind to others. Their struggles pushed her to always do her best.

She graduated from Penn State University in 2012 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education in Multicultural Settings. After graduating, she moved to NJ where she substituted for a few years in various schools.

In 2015, she had her son. A few months later, she was hired as a long-term substitute teacher at Lindenwold School 4. After a year of serving as a substitute, Nasima realized School 4 was the type of environment she would love to serve in. Nasima has taught at School 4 for seven years. She has been able to serve as a second-grade teacher, first grade teacher, and currently as the technology teacher.

Christina Curry – School 5

Ms. Curry is a graduate of Cabrini University in Radnor PA, where she majored in Elementary Education in 2008. Lindenwold Schools have had a large part of her journey to become an educator. As a college student, Ms. Curry would come home weekly and volunteer when her mom was a Kindergarten Teacher at School 5. Working with her mom and fellow teachers at School 5, she knew this was where she was destined to be.

In 2009, Ms. Curry was hired as a First Grade Teacher at School 4. She was a First Grade Teacher until 2013 and then moved to Kindergarten. In 2016, Ms. Curry moved into Basic Skills at School 5. Through this role, she has been able to enjoy two of her favorite subjects: Reading and Writing. As the First Grade Basic Skills Teacher, she is able to share her love of these two subjects with her students and co-workers.

Throughout her years, Lindenwold has become a second home. She has worked with such amazing teachers, administration and support staff. She is also lucky enough to work in the same building as my brother. So as one could say “Lindenwold runs in her family’s blood.” She has so blessed for the years she has had in Lindenwold and she looks forward to the years ahead.

Ryan Strothers – Lindenwold Middle School

"Be the change you wish to see in the world". These are the words that Ryan Strothers lives by everyday. Ryan Strothers attended and graduated from Pennsauken High School and Grand Canyon University. While in high school, Ryan thought that he might want to become a teacher. However, it wasn't until one of his teachers challenged his work ethic that he became certain. Ryan's teacher "called him out" for cruising through general course work when he knew that Ryan was capable of so much more. While the words of his teacher stung, it was just the motivation he needed to make some changes in his life.

From that day forward, Ryan wanted to make a similar impact in the lives of children. Ryan first came to the Lindenwold Middle School as a substitute and replacement teacher during the 2016-2017 school year. That following September he officially joined the staff as a fifth grade teacher. It is in this position that Ryan strives to challenge his students to think outside the box while encouraging them to reach for the stars. In 2018, he spearheaded The Lion's Den Student Mentoring Program with the mission "to guide LMS Lions towards a brighter future by building healthy and long-lasting relationships with a positive adult influence". The mentoring program continues to grow more and more with each passing year.

Jeffrey Flood-Orion – Lindenwold High School

Mr. Jeffrey Flood-Orion is a graduate of Rowan University with a BA in Theatre Performance and a MA in Theatre Ed. Jeff has been a Lindenwold Lion 2011 when he did his student teaching and started full time in 2014 when Mrs. Triplo retired. Mr. Flood-Orion is truly grateful for the opportunity to work and "play" in a district that supports Theatre in our school and community. He is also the Program Director for the Southern New Jersey Cappies and in his free time works at Two Sweet Boutique Bakery.

Please join me in congratulating our Educational Support Professionals of the Year. I don't know what we would do without each of these amazing individuals. They each make our district a better place each and every day for our students and staff. We couldn't do it without you, and we please know what a difference you make in the lives of our children, community, and your colleagues. We are so proud to have you on our Lion Team!

In doing so, she has used her personal finances to make sure that the children and their families get what they need to experience success. Kim is an asset to the district and the children that she serves.

Maria Caraballo – School 4

Maria Caraballo is an Instructional Assistant and Registered Behavior Technician at Lindenwold School #4.

Maria moved to Lindenwold in 1999 when she volunteered in the schools her children attended. Mrs. Caraballo has been an employee of the Lindenwold School District for over 21 years. Maria provides diverse assistance to the students and staff. Maria is passionate about working with the students and provides support for their success.

University. She has been a nurse for 42 years, and worked at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Wyeth Labs. As the Certified School Nurse at School 5 for the past 19 years, she enjoys the students and working with such a dedicated staff. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, music, gardening and following Philadelphia sports teams. She is grateful for the honor of being selected Staff Member of the year.

Maria Waring – Lindenwold Middle School

Teacher, friend, colleague, literacy coach.

After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, Ms. Waring started her career in Lindenwold as a 5th grade Language Arts & Social Studies teacher. Fifteen rewarding years later, she has come to know and love so many of our Lindenwold’s amazing staff and students! As the Literacy Coach for the past five years, she has learned so much more. Ms. Waring is forever grateful for how her interactions with others has helped not only her colleagues to grow but also herself both personally and professionally. She truly is an example of a dedicated, servant-leader each and every day.

Delilah Cruz – Lindenwold High School

Delilah Cruz is the Secretary to the Assistant Principal at Lindenwold High School. Delilah has worked as a school secretary for the past 15 plus years with the last 5 years being at Lindenwold High School. Delilah is a mother, a wife, and a coach who gives her all to everything that she does. Delilah is a valued member of our Lindenwold school community who goes out of her way to show her care and love for her colleagues and students alike.

Ms. Bates's PK class learned all about the life cycle of a caterpillar to a butterfly. Today was a big day for them! They transferred the chrysalis into the butterfly net. It's time to watch them grow!!!!

Morning Message:

"I will move our chrysalis to the butterfly net."

"O" is for ORANGE OCTOPUS!!!!

What an awesome PK Family Engagement Event!!!!

In light of recent events, yesterday Mrs. Baiori’s 1st grade class worked on a Classroom Community Building Project. The class discussed the tragic event that occurred in Texas and really honed in on the importance of “Building Each Other Up” with Kindness and Caring Hearts. The class then “built” an American Flag, one piece designed per student, to put together and place on display in the hallway. This 1st grade class hopes this serves as a reminder that it takes each and every one of us to work toward a better tomorrow. Together, we can change our Nation!

After learning about the reasons why we honor Memorial Day, Mrs. McGlauflin's class created this beautiful symbol for their hallway in School 5.

Congratulations to our LHS Driver's Ed. Club #Winners!

Out of MANY NJ schools - Lindenwold Lions took 2nd place for their driving campaign. Their motto was:

"Be Aware. Be A LION."

This year they sold: LION candy bars and LION water bottles. They also sponsored a Student Driver of the Month space which was raffled off every two weeks for students with all of their credentials. The club also hosted student/staff blood drives and their last one was held on June 3rd. The club also held a Share the Keys presentation to educate parents on the Graduated Drivers' License program. This program educates parents on what they need to know before they begin driving.

Finally, the Driver's Ed. Club created a video to bring awareness in schools. Is it any wonder why this club placed??? WOW!!! Way to go!!!!

What a beautiful and FUN afternoon celebrating our students who are choosing to attend college next year. The coolest part of the event - each student was introduced with their own, unique introduction music that they selected! It was such an awesome way to celebrate these amazing future college students. #collegeboundlions
