Technology Integration Mobile Learning
On November 12, 2013 at 8pm ET, join us for our last event in the series – Going Mobile EdChat: Authentic Tasks. Authentic tasks require students to demonstrate proficiency by applying existing knowledge to solve a real-world problem. Engaging students in projects that allow them to construct their own knowledge and develop authentic products bridges what is learned in the classroom and what is important to the world outside of the classroom. Join Program Director for Technology and Learning at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Bob Hirshon and K-12 Instructional Technology Specialist Kyle Pace as they look at leveraging mobile technology to engage students in authentic tasks.

Smarter Balanced Information
- Formative Tools
A digital library of tools and training is being created in multiple languages and will have information for teachers as well as videos for parents.
- Interim Assessments
--Flexible and Open test--used at the building level when you've taught the unit.
--Correlates to summative test--can be used as often as you wish
--Teachers have ability to input the standards to check and see where kids are at ex)check to see how well the students mastered standards
--Computer adaptive--If kids get right goes to higher level, wrong it's presented at lower level
--2nd grade will have this available to them as well

--Computer adaptive-Higher question if right, lower level if wrong
--Success pushes up the level of questions (Blooms)
--Administered at end of the year, online, goal is 2 week turnaround on results
--Online and performance task will be aggregated together
--Performance ELA and math--Scored with teachers/principals/specialists after they've been trained
--Retake Option--Student performs well below there will be a process to go through and then they can retake
--ELA time 3rd-5th 1:30 + performance task 2:00 + In class activity :30 = Total 4:00
