Grateful For All Of You!

Last week's Gratitude Challenge activity was to write a letter to someone that you are thankful for. I hope you all know how thankful I am to each and every one of you and your students.

I hope everyone enjoyed last Thursday off. I want to say thank you to all of our past and present soldiers for your service. As a Veteran, I know what it takes to be part of our wonderful Armed Forces. I am proud to be an American Soldier and proud to have served my country.

School was great at Silver Gate last Friday. Ask your students what activities they worked in the classrooms with their teachers and friends. We had a little more than 50 percent of students present which made it a nice easy day for all of us. Wether you were on campus or stayed home, I hope everyone enjoyed the day and the beautiful hot weekend. See you tomorrow!

11/15-11/19 - Min. days all week due to parent Conferences. 12:35pm Dismissal every day!

This week we have our first round of Parent/Teacher Conferences of the year. During your conference your child's teacher will share work samples and assessment data in order to provide you with a full understanding of their present levels of learning and the growth that is expected throughout the year as they progress towards meeting or exceeding grade level standards. I encourage you to ask questions and engage in conversation with your child's teacher so that you walk away with a solid understanding of your child's strengths and areas of growth.

TK/Kinder STEAM:

This week we had loads of fun in TK/Kinder STEAM! Continuing with our Wild About Weather unit, we talked about the benefits and hazards of the sun. Students then built a mini person with pipe cleaners and UV beads. Their job was to then create a shade out of various materials that would protect their bead person from the suns UV rays. If the beads changed colors during their outdoor test, they came back in the lab and made modifications to their structures. It was exciting with students in and out of the room, trying different strategies! They were able to take home their UV bead person and their structure so ask them to tell you all about it!

3rd Grade:

3rd Grade STEAM was so much fun this week! We continued our Physical Science section diving deeper into Balance and Motion. We balanced a pencil on its point! We first practiced with tag board and counterweights. We then moved on using aluminum wire and counterweights to find the perfect balance point.

4th Grade:

4th grade- we continued to write code and created a project that is due on Monday that promises to be exciting! The 4th graders worked on a programming project that has a sprite moving and reacting to each answered question in their program. The project is entitled Best Friend Quiz and with each correct answer the sprite (character in their program) reacts.

Our Special Students

Two of our Silver Gators William and Reid helped a down syndrome student launch a rocket at Fiesta Island yesterday. Keep the good deeds going around our community. Silver Gate have the best kids EVER!!
