Kindergarten Superheros celebrating being respectful, responsible and safe!
Mrs. Walters' News
Dear Bushnell Elementary Families,
Bushnell students are invited to participate in Lowell’s 2021 FOOD FIGHT to benefit the Food Pantry at Flat River Outreach Ministries. During the month of May, food items and paper goods can be brought to school, where they will be counted in classrooms. Each food item earns our school 1 point towards a friendly competition between the elementary schools. Monetary donations can also be given, and school will tally 4 points per dollar. Here is a link to donate: https://www.mygiving.net/campaign/Food-Fight-2021. Please help us bring home the traveling FOOD FIGHT trophy and share what you can. For the week of May 3-7, our focus is on canned fruits and vegetables. For more information, see the flyer below.
This is the time of year when parents start inquiring about how to keep their kids academically engaged over the summer. Cherry Creek's library will once again be open on certain Tuesday mornings this summer for Arrow Readers on the Move. Our students can come in and check out books! Certificates and prizes can be won from our library. Lowell Area Schools will be hosting a summer school for students that qualify as well. The Englehart Library will also be running some special activities. I cannot stress enough how important it is to keep kids reading over the summer months. I also cannot say enough positive comments about Reflex Math and IXL. These are FREE, highly engaging, online websites for our kids. Having your child work on Reflex Math and/or IXL daily in the summer will help keep and build on their math and reading fluency.
Staff Appreciation Week will be next week. Thank you to all who contributed items to create a fun and well deserved celebration of the special folks who work at Bushnell!
Office reminders:
~If you call your child in sick, please let us know what symptoms they have or we will have to call you back to inquire.
~When letting us know about any end of day changes, be sure to call the office to let us know. Just letting the teacher know often causes confusion for our bus supervisor and office staff.
I'd like to remind all of our parents how important it is to follow our covid-19 protocols. Please keep your children home if someone in your household is being tested. Keep children home if they have symptoms and communicate with our school office so we can keep an eye on other classmates. We continue to practice the mitigation strategies KCHD deems necessary and many of our staff are already fully vaccinated!
Next year's district calendar has been finalized and can be found here.
Summer is just around the corner. Lowell Education Association has a great opportunity to provide scholarship money for camps or summer activities you might want your child to participate in. Click on the link below to find out more!
Have a good weekend all!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Erin Walters
Bushnell Elementary Principal
