2004-2005
What music, movies, and fashions were popular at the time?
Pop music, Napoleon Dynamite, leggings, and Uggs were all coming into style. The 80's and 90's were also starting to come back.

What were your favorite activities in middle school? What were your hobbies and interests?
Reading, writing, and hanging out with friends.
What job/ interests/ activities do you have now? Is there a connection between what you liked back then and what you enjoy today?
Erika is a social worker specializing in child welfare. She chose this job because, while in middle school, she read lots of books about kids who were abused, been neglected, or lived in an unhealthy environment. She still loves to read and write. Erika likes to bake and garden because, throughout 7th and 8th grade, her grandmother taught her to do these things.
What was the best part about middle school?
For Erika, the best part about middle school was the friends she made.
What was the worst part?
Not knowing where she fit in was the hardest part of middle school for her.
How would you describe your middle school self?
During this period of time she was confused, sad and angry.
What advice about growing up would you give to kids my age?
Try to remember that this is just a small part of your whole life. Think of all the positive and fun things about life, instead of the bad ones. Find at least a few people that you feel comfortable confiding in. Always remember that you have something unique to offer the world, you just have to figure out what it is.

Erika's biggest fears were getting lost, having mean teachers,
