Parkside Art
The 2023 school year is off to a great start in the Parkside art room! Your child has art class for 60 minutes a week. During that time students will create with a wide range of materials including paint, clay, printing, collage and fibers to name a few. Completed projects stay at Parkside until it has been photographed for Artsonia and displayed in the hallway. Student artwork is displayed around the building on a rotating basis all year long. If you find yourself visiting Parkside be sure to take a look!
We will be using Artsonia.com again this year in the art room. Artsonia is a free, online platform that creates a digital portfolio of student artwork and serves multiple purposes for families, students, and the art program. Please check out your students portfolio and share it with family, near and far!

If you are interested in participating in the Backpack Buddies program, please contact via Dojo Amanda Covert (Parkside Counselor) or Michele Wilson (Parkside Nurse) at your child's school. Please know that your family name and child(ren)'s identity are kept confidential. Privacy is a top priority.

Mindful Moment
Fall is such an amazing time. The leaves are full of color, the smell of pumpkin and spice. It is a wonderful time to step back and observe with our children and talk about change and the beauty of it. It is a month to take a walk and notice the changes in nature. Talk about the scents in the air, the changing colors, how the air feels on their skin. Take a bag with and collect fall items (acorns, leaves, etc). Then at home journal with your child about what they saw and what they found...maybe even creating an art project with the items they found.
Other activities might be visiting an apple orchard or pumpkin patch, baking pumpkin or apple pies together or just sitting outside and listening to nature's sounds. Children thrive on connections, especially time spent with a caring adult. It can be a simple moment full of connection and presence.
Enjoy this season of change with your child(ren) and use it as a time to connect and observe! Happy Fall

Over-the-Counter Medications
If there is not a form signed, per state law and school policy we are not allowed to administer any form of over the counter medication to your student. We can no longer take verbal consent from a parent/guardian to give a medication.
Due to these changes, all current forms on file have been discarded and all students will need a new form on file for 2023-2024 school year. The new signed form will be good through the remainder of their school career in Monroe.
