Klem South Penguin Press
November Edition
November will be a busy month for our penguins! At this point in the school year, students are settling in and are comfortable with the routines and expectations. As we visit classrooms, we see students who are learning from one another, responding positively to adults and peers, advocating for their learning, and reaching high expectations. Thank you for your support and partnership at home. We know that our students are better able to achieve personal learning goals when both home and school work collaboratively to support the process. We are extremely grateful to partner with you!
This week, students will practice the procedures associated with a lockdown drill. Teachers will review the process with their homerooms and talk about the expectations during this safety procedure. A lockdown requires all students and staff members to lock their doors and hide. Because we are on the heels of an event at KS, we are choosing to practice this learning in the safety of the homeroom environment. Teachers will choose a time that works best in their homeroom schedule. In the coming weeks, we will conduct a school-wide lockdown drill with law enforcement. Right now, we want students to feel safe to learn the procedures in a non-threatening and calm environment.
As always, if we can be of assistance to you, please contact us.
Sincerely,
Martha End, Principal
Dr. Stephen MacAdam, Assistant Principal

Schroeder Seniors Names National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists Earlier this fall, approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 64th annual National Merit Scholarship Program were announced, and three Webster Schroeder High School seniors were among those named. Congratulations to Allison Lisciandro, Lucas Lyons, and Anirudh Sharma, academically talented students who now have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million. Those scholarships will be offered in spring 2019, so we will let you know how this talented trio progresses!
