MESSAGE FROM MRS. LAMBERT
Dear Parents,
Another successful Walkathon! Many thanks to all of the parents who stepped up to take a leadership role in this fantastic family event, in particular our PTA President, April Ornelas, the Walkathon Chairpersons Fernanda Brant, Agnes Berthillier, and Trish Gilbert, the Food Sub-Committee Chairpersons Nelly Gomez and Gina Reyes, and the Spiritwear Chairperson, Trudy Wilson. Without their dedication and commitment to support our schools, the Walkathon would not have been such a success!
In addition to these lead volunteers, many, many more volunteered to help with the field, the prizes, the T-shirts, the publicity, and the food. It was an amazing event of cooperation and teamwork and next year we hope that many more parents join in the volunteering to share in this wonderful experience.
Best regards,
Theresa Lambert

FROM THE PTA
Dear Mariano Castro and Mistral Parents, teachers, and community.
We hope you all enjoyed the 2016 Walkathon with your children, students, family and friends. It was wonderful to see the students walk, to encourage them to do their best, to spend time with friends, to make new friends, to volunteer, and to eat delicious food.
The WAT is our ultimate community event because we all participate! We are most successful when we work together donating our time, talents and materials. In our shared community every family helps. That was clearly evident at last Friday’s WAT event.
We thank the committee leads that helped to make this whole event happen. Please join us in thanking these hard working parents who were involved in planning the WAT for the last 6 weeks, and for some parents, many months before. This includes:
WAT Co-Chairs – Trish Gilbert & Agnes Charrel-Berthillier and Fernanda Brant
Field and Logistics – Anthony Arriola, Jose Pena, Venancio Mejia
Publicity – Kristin Bailey, Trudy Wilson, Madahi Cruz
Food – Cecia Morales, Nelly Gomez, Gina Reyes, Lizbeth Velasco
Registration – Shilpa Jobanputra, Suzanne Strohmaier, Laiza Bromberg
Volunteer Coordinators – Maria Rangel, April Myles-Ornelas, Lizbeth Velasco
Lap Prizes – Peggy Prendergast and Dona Noriega
Lap Fruit – Maria Dinard and Crispina Bautista
Bake Sale – Amy Adams, Gina Reyes, Nelly Gomez, Lizbeth Velasco
Course/Lap Management – Blandina Diaz, Sean Rowe, Jose Pena
Spirit Wear – April Murphy and Trudy Wilson
Finance – Rishi Jobanputra and Martha Flores
We also send a big thank you to everyone in our shared community who:
- Donated baked goods, drinks, food ingredients, and sourced extra items
- Helped set up the field, lap prizes, prepared food and fruit
- Tirelessly cooked food, sold food, and baked goods that we all enjoyed
- Managed ticket sales, spirit wear, volunteer coordination, check out
- Handed out lap prizes, marked shirts and provided a safe environment to our students
- Captured our magical day through hundreds of photographs
- And most of all…after a full day of WAT, stayed late to clean up our school
We send an advance thank you to our fearless Finance Teams who will work hard to count the pledge donations coming in, and for the volunteers, who will thank the businesses and vendors and other parents that were involved in supporting our WAT. We also thank those post-production volunteers who will reward our students for their extra laps walked with t-shirts and fun parties. So again families – THANK YOU for everything you do to support all of our children, friends, and community.
With gratitude, WAT Co-Chairs – Trish Gilbert & Agnes Charrel-Berthillier and Fernanda Brant.
