Fashion and Body Image

The Fashion industry has become a large problem for body image. Photoshop and the incessant bombarding of thin, skeletal models has led women to believe this type of body is the norm. It is even encouraging eating disorders and cosmetic surgeries to make women "beautiful". These terrible fashion advertisements are causing even little girls to develop an early issue with body image ("The Impact of").

These advertisements are extremely prominent in society and are seen on a daily basis. This is a constant reinforcement to the false idea that women have of how their bodies are supposed to look. Although companies do this to promote the selling of products claiming to change the way a person looks, these advertisements are encouraging women to change their bodies in detrimental ways. Anorexia and bulimia have become a large issue in females, and part of it is due to these unsettling images (Serdar).
