#JaguarPride

We hope you had a restful and rejuvenating spring break. Welcome back! We were excited to see all of our JSS students and staff back on April 3, 2023. We are now on the last leg of this 2022/23 school year. We have observed great leaps in student learning, social-emotional learning and connections with each other. Our students have the foundation to finish the school year off strong.

Students will soon be experiencing spring and year end field trips, and our Grade 2 and 4 students will enjoy swimming lessons before the end of this school year.

Thank you to all our JSS parents/guardians who attended our Student Led Conference on March 21 (T/Th Kindergarten) and 22 (pre-Kindergarten, M/W Kindergarten and Grade 1 to 5). JSS will be sending home Grade 1 to 5 Report Cards for Term 3 on April 28. Please keep your eye out for that.

As we continue to recognize students who say and do the right things, especially when no one is looking, we randomly pick two student Jaguar Cards (submitted into the “Caught in the Matrix” Jaguar Card Bin in the school office) each week to enjoy a free lunch (made possible by our local eatery/restaurant supporters). Those students have their picture taken and uploaded to the electronic bulletin board in our north entrance lobby. Each Jaguar Card remains in the bin for the entire month, then we start over with an empty bin the next month. 198 JSS students received Jaguar Cards in September, 262 in October, another 102 in November, 96 students in December, 204 more in January, 68 in February and 207 more in March…for a total of 1137 Jaguar Cards this school year. We are very proud of all our students living the school pledge each day. Stay tuned for our April totals and beyond.

Thank you to …

  • Our Grade 5 Safety Patrollers for showing up for early morning and afternoon duty.

  • Mrs. Rak and Mrs. Raynard for coordinating our breakfast program.

  • The parents/guardians for helping out with our School (Parent) Council hot lunch program.

  • Parents/Guardians for supervising field trips and assisting in our classrooms this year.

JSS Council & Parents’ Society

We are currently running our Spring Plant Fundraiser. It runs online until April 24 and orders will be available for pick up starting May 10th in the school gym. Details to come. Please visit this website for order information: http://jackstuartschool.growingsmilesfundraising.com/

Volunteers are needed May 9th for unloading the truck and organizing the plants into individual orders. A delivery window time will be given the night before. If you are available to help please text or email Terra: (780)975-6533 or jackstuartparentadvisory@gmail.com

JSS Parents’ Society has recently given the Library/Learning Commons $2000 of this years fundraised money to help replace some old and worn out things and buy a few new things. (Example: There are still books dating from 1980 and several bean bag chairs are beyond repair). There is no longer funds left in the budget for any extras and since this space is used by the whole school we feel it is a good place for our fundraised money to go.

Reminder that our Save-On-Foods 5% Cash Back to the school is ongoing so please remember to donate your receipts to Jack Stuart School when shopping there.
