SENIOR SPOTLIGHT
Celebrating the Class of 2022
Caleb Connell
Why did you decide to attend NCVA?
I was not making the best choices/friends in my local high school and my mom and I agreed I would never graduate if I stayed.
How has being a student at NCVA helped you in working toward your goals?
Many times, I have tried to drop out but with the help of my counselor and my mom I am finally graduating. With NCVA I was able to take summer school classes to make up lost credits and be eligible for early graduation. With an end goal in sight it made it easier for me to stay focused and get what I needed done.
What do you plan to do after you graduate from high school?
I plan to take a few classes at my local community college so I can work with my grandfather at his commercial refrigeration company.
What advice would you give other students on getting through high school?
Keep the end game in sight. Look at graduation as your goal and focus. If you get behind or feel like you are struggling don’t be afraid to ask for help!!
What are your hobbies?
My hobbies are hanging out with my friends when I have free time and working so I can make money to buy a car.
Do you have a role model or someone that inspires you?
My stepdad. He makes big money because he works hard. He dropped out of high school but when he realized he needed his diploma he went back and got it and worked his way up at his company from the bottom to now being a boss in the corporate department. He drives a nice truck and bought us a huge house. I want to make bank like him one day.
