Grogan's Mill Battery Challenge - Collection Challenge November 9 @ 3R Bazaar at The Woodlands Farmer's Market
The 3R Bazaar will be held at The Woodlands Farmer’s Market on November 9. The village challenge this year is used battery collection. The Village Associations compete to win money from the Township for the most batteries by weight. The GMVA then donates these winnings to the schools in our village as well as to students through scholarships for higher education (this year we are able to fund five $2000 scholarships). Last year we (the GMVA) collected almost 700 pounds of batteries. While winning the money is great for our village, it also keeps so much toxic garbage out of the landfill. We have a month to go before the Bazaar.

Fourth Grade Music Program Coming Soon!
Fourth grade students have been working hard to prepare "America," a very special music program. The fourth grade program will be Thursday, November 14 at 6:00 p.m. Fourth grade students need to arrive in the music room at 5:40 p.m. that evening. The costume will be a solid red, white or blue shirt and jeans. Students will practice during their music specials time. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Rodriguez. See you on Thursday, November 14 at 6:00 p.m. As always, thank you for your support of the Hailey Elementary Music program.
Yearbook Cover Contest
The Hailey PTA is sponsoring a yearbook cover contest. The winner of the contest will have their art used for the cover of the Hailey yearbook. All entries are due November 18. The theme for the yearbook is BE KIND. Students are encouraged to use a kindness theme in the art and use their creativity. Here’s an example of something including BE KIND... Encourage your child to use a lot of color and fill the page. The entry must be 8.5"x11". Thank you to the PTA for their hard work in creating a yearbook for our students.

Library News
Library Volunteers Needed
The Hailey Library is seeking volunteers for Monday and Friday afternoons. Other shifts are available as well. Library volunteers typically come in once a week to help students check out books, return books to the shelves, and work on special projects. Morning volunteers work from 8:20-10:50 and assist 1st, 2nd, and 4th grade students. Afternoon volunteers work from 1:20-3:00 and assist Kindergarten and 3rd grade students. Volunteering the in the library is a great way to meet other parents, get connected to the school, and help kids. If you are interested in becoming a library volunteer, please email Mrs. Puller at kpuller@conroeisd.net.

Playground INFORMATION
Each year, the Hailey Elementary PTA partners with Hailey Elementary School to raise, collect, and hold funds for a future playground structure purchase.
Every school year as PTA donates funds to the school, a minimum of 50% of that amount will be allocated to this playground fund. At the time of this letter we have received quotes that one piece of equipment will cost approximately $63,000. We know that as time passes this amount may vary.
We are also committed to establishing a committee that will help spearhead this effort and keep it moving forward. It will also be the responsibility of the committee and/or the administration to keep the balance updated and the PTA apprised of the standings.
As of today the fund currently holds a balance of $10,000.
It has been noted that “school playgrounds are in a unique position to meet kids where they are, helping them become smarter, healthier and stronger through play. Studies show that outdoor physical activity not only benefits a child's health but improves classroom performance, increases cognitive development and hones social skills” which is why we are all joining together to commit to making this happen.
With anticipation and excitement,
Hailey Elementary and Hailey PTA
