A message from our principal
We begin the last week of Lent. The Spirit of the Lord is really trying to help us be more open and more free, to receive the graces our Lord wants to offer us. There is another spirit that is fighting just as hard to distract us, discourage us, and prevent us from being open and attentive to God's gifts.
The stories we hear this week tell what happened to Jesus before he was arrested. We experience Passover, Israel’s deliverance from bondage in Egypt. Also, on Passover, Jesus rode a donkey into the city of Jerusalem and the people honored him.
Each night this week, we can give thanks. The closer we get to celebrating Holy Week and the events that brought us our salvation, each of us can express our gratitude, realizing this was all for me.
Peace in Christ,
Dr. John Shreve

True Worth Place Towel & Washcloth Drive
The HFCC Peace & Justice Advocates invite you to serve others in a similar way, by bringing your clean, gently used or new bath towels and washcloths to HFCS or HFCC leading up to Holy Thursday. On Good Friday, all towels collected will be delivered to True Worth Place. More than 100 individuals experiencing homelessness use the showers each day at True Worth Place. All guests are offered a clean towel and washcloth for their shower, which are then laundered for the next guests to use.
This is a chance to clean out your linen closet and provide our neighbors with the dignity of a clean towel after their shower. Your donations of towels and washcloths are greatly appreciated!
Robotics Club for 2017-18
We are excited for the inaugural year of the HFCS Robotics Club! Coaches Anthony Matasso and Tug Rix will be rounding up all interested students currently in 3rd-7th Grades to join next year as we research, design, and build robots and robotic projects through the First Lego League Tech Challenge and Robotics Competition. We also need a name for the club, and your Hornets can help choose something fitting! Learn more about this world wide program by clicking here.
Nolan Catholic High School offers a Middle School Robotics Camp for rising 5th - 8th grades, and we encourage those eligible to attend this summer. Held June 5-9, 9 a.m. to noon, this one week summer camp will introduce students to the basics of engineering and technology with a focus on the design process and hands-on project based learning. The cost is $150. Contact Dr. Scheer at rscheer@nchstx.org for more information, or click here to register.
Lenten Mission Series
In this year, the 75th Anniversary of our parish, St. Alice/Holy Family, we are pleased to present a special series of Lenten reflections. Each evening begins with 6 p.m. Mass in the Church, followed by supper, which will be provided by different HFCC ministries. During supper, we have a special speaker – Sr. Mary Frances Serafino, SSMN.
A former principal of St. Alice, and a Sister of Saint Mary of Namur, Sr. Mary Frances Serafino will be speaking on the Past, the Present, and the Future of Holy Family Catholic Church. Please plan to attend. The HFCC Men's Club and HFCS Staff will be providing the meal for April 5. See you there!

Children's choir needs you
Did you know that our church has a choir for you? The Children's Choir has been singing for Mass at Holy Family since 1995 and the Youth Choir since 2000. Each choir only sings once a month at the 5 p.m. Mass on Saturday. Even if you regularly attend another Mass, you can check out the fellowship shared at the 5 p.m. Mass and be a part of it by leading them in song.
The choirs meet on Wednesday evenings and you can even receive service hours by volunteering your time and talent to the choirs! If you have any questions please contact the choir director, Keisha Matthews at klsmatthews@yahoo.com or 817-733-6583.

CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES RICE BOWL
CRS Rice Bowl is Catholic Relief Services’ Lenten program for families and faith communities in the United States who want to put their faith in action. In its first 40 years, more than $250 million has been given through CRS Rice Bowl to support programs that prevent hunger and poverty around the world. Cardboard CRS Rice Bowls and Lenten calendars have been sent home with all students today. Use your cardboard CRS Rice Bowl and Lenten calendar to guide your Lenten prayer, fasting and almsgiving this Lenten season. Be sure to visit www.crsricebowl.org to watch videos of the people and communities whose lives your Lenten gifts are changing. CRS Rice Bowls should be returned to the school office by April 24, 2017.
