Pella Middle School is one of three middle schools in Iowa that earned the "Exceptional" rating, and we were the second highest overall rated middle school in the entire state according to the Iowa School Performance Rating system. iaschoolperformance.gov can provide you with more information on the criteria and elements that go into our profile rating.

I am extremely proud of our staff and students for the work they do to make our building such a special place. Thank you, parents and guardians, for your support. What a team we are blessed to be a part of!

8th Grade visits Pella Corp and Central College

It is never too early to start preparing for your future. Our 8th grade students had the opportunity to explore the behind-the-scenes at Pella Corporation to see what careers they have to offer in honor of National Manufacturing Day. They also visited Central College the same day to get a first glimpse at what college life has to offer.

Brenneman and Scheckel Earn Central College Kid Captain Award

From Pella Middle School: Elsie Brenneman, daughter of Neal and Kara Brenneman, and AJ Scheckel, son of Dan and Megan Scheckel. Elsie and AJ are students who represent respect, responsibility, leadership, teamwork, caring and loyalty consistently.

Kid Captains were nominated by their peers using a rubric of characteristics such as having a positive attitude, making positive contributions, considering the needs and wants of others, showing respect and accepting and tolerating the views and beliefs of others — all of which makes them a great teammate.

The top five Pella Middle School finalists were Elsie Brenneman (8), AJ Scheckel (8), Parker Evans (7), Sam Manning (7), and Aniah Rozenboom (7).

Wrestling and Basketball Spectator & Student Expectations

Thank you for allowing your students to participate in extracurricular events. Participating in these events is a privilege, and students must maintain passing grades in order to participate.

During Events:

- All spectators should be in the gym or in the stands.

- During basketball games and wrestling meets, if there are children playing in the cafeteria, Mr. Tjeerdsma, Mr. Manning, or other school personnel will ask them to return to the gym.

- Please model great sportsmanship for our student athletes.

We appreciate your partnership and support of our students and activities!

Packs for a Purpose

Kinsley Parrott, a graduate student at the University of Iowa pursuing her Master’s in Child Life donated several of her "Packs for a Purpose" to Pella Middle School. Kinsley created Packs for a Purpose because she felt a need for more activities, games, and educational materials for children in vulnerable situations. Kinsley earned her undergraduate degree from Central College prior to attending the University of Iowa. Thank you, Kinsley!!
