The Things They Carried

The Horror of War
Tim had a very big horror of war in the beginning of the book, when he gets picked to be an the war, he actually tries to make a run for it and go to Canada. He does this because he does not want to fight in the Vietnam war. He never actually did go to Canada though.

coping with guilt
Tim has to cope with a lot of guilt, some is very hard to. One of the biggest times that he had the most guilt, was when he "killed a man". After he killed him he felt really bad, he regretted killing him and probably wouldn't have done it if he thought about it.
