8th Grade Students Attend CTE Showcase
The 8th grade students attended the 13th Annual Career and Technical Education Showcase on Tuesday, March 20th at the American Legion Building. Students were exposed to many of the available Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses offered throughout Onslow County including: Digital Media, Microsoft Credentialing, Pre-Engineering, Masonry, Computer Engineering, and many others. Teachers and students from these courses answered questions and demonstrated program area skills to provide the rising freshman with more information concerning the CTE elective classes available as they plan their high school course of study.

District Spelling Bee
Onslow County Schools held its annual District Middle School Spelling Bee Competition on Thursday, March 22nd at 7:00 pm at Northwoods Park Middle School. Trexler Middle School was represented by 7th graders Tiffany Echternach and William Futrelle. Each middle school in Onslow County was represented by two school winning spellers. After eighteen rounds, Tiffany placed second in the district competition.
Sports Updates
Girls' Volleyball
Trexler's Lady Falcons played against New Bridge Middle School on Wednesday at home. The girls came out strong to win the first set 25-20. New Bridge battled back to take the second set with a score of 25-21. It was back and forth as Trexler took the third set with a score of 25-14. The Lady Falcons had a tough time closing out the last two sets and lost both. Both teams did a great job on serving and receiving. On Thursday the 22nd, Trexler’s Lady Falcons played away at Southwest Middle School. The Lady Colts won the first set; however, the Lady Falcons took control of the match sweeping the next three sets. Leading Trexler to a win were Chloe Falcone with 17 points and Mallory Foy with 14 points. The Lady Falcons play their last game at home against Brewster Middle School at 4:00pm Tuesday, March 27th. Please show your school spirit and come cheer on your Lady Falcons!
Boys' Soccer
On Thursday, the Falcons played at Southwest Middle School. The boys fought hard but came up short in the end with a score of 3-2. The game against New Bridge Middle School was postponed due to inclement weather and will be played Friday, March 23rd at Richlands High School at 4:00pm. The Falcons end their season at home on Tuesday, March 27th against the Brewster Bulldogs. Please show your school spirit and come cheer on the Falcons. The game starts 4:00pm on the Richlands High School soccer field.
Baseball Tryouts
Baseball tryouts will begin on Monday, March 26th. Students interested in trying out for baseball will need to meet in the cafeteria immediately after school. Coach Marshburn requests all students come prepared with cleats, gloves and any personal baseball gear they want to use. Students must meet eligibility criteria, have a current physical on file, and a current athletic participation form that includes insurance information and signatures in order to participate. Furthermore, parents must have attended a MRSA and concussion training prior to participation in tryouts. Honor Roll and Principal List's Celebration
As mentioned in the March 2nd edition of The Nest, Trexler has been working to find exciting ways to reward and celebrate students that have earned Honor Roll or Principal’s List this school year. Our school is pleased to announce that Eastern Exotics Wildlife Foundation will join us for an entertaining and educational presentation on Tuesday, March 27th. Students that have earned Honor Roll or Principal List for the first 9 weeks will be invited to the presentation and will learn about exotic wildlife. Students may even have the opportunity to touch some of the animals. Look for more information soon regarding additional field trips to celebrate students that have earned Honor Roll or Principal's List for the second and third 9 weeks!
