Prestwick LEarns: Transfer Policy for 6th -8th graders
One important question we have been asked is about incoming 6th grade class and availability to students in other LEISD campuses. In past years we have had lottery meetings. With the approaching of the LEISD construction of Walker and Strike Middle Schools the district has elected to go with a transfer process for the 2019-2020 school year. The transfer application covers a student for the 2019-2020 school year. The following year students will attend their zoned MS campus.
The application is now open and may be found at https://www.littleelmisd.net/Page/2418. We look forward to welcoming additional Prestwick Lobos at the 6-8 grade levels. Don't delay- apply now! Feel free to spread the word to friends and family. We have space and are excitedly ready to provide an exceptional opportunity.

Benchmark Tests for 3 - 8 Grade Students
Dearest Parents and/or Important People,
Our Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh and Eighth will be taking STAAR benchmarks next week. These assessments will guide our instruction in the Spring semester. Students who travel for 7th grade athletics should report to Prestwick on the mornings listed below. Your learner(s) will take the tests as follows:
Monday, March 4th
3rd, 4th Math
6th (not Compacted Math), 7th Math (student in on level 7th Math courses only- athletes do not travel if in this course)
Tuesday, March 5th
3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th Reading (no am athletic travel)
Wednesday, March 6th
5th Science
8th Science (all 8th graders in on level Science and Advanced Science 7th graders - no am travel if in this course)
(Each test will take part on the designated day and students will have a four hour time limit work each day. )
Students have worked hard this year and have many skills to demonstrate on these four days. We are confident your students are well prepared and ready to give it 100%. A few tips to maximize your son and/or daughter(s) success are…
Students should arrive on time. Please do your best to make sure there are not any conflicts with out of school appointments on these days for your student.
Get a good night’s rest in order to feel alert and ready to focus.
Eat a healthy breakfast either at home or at school.
Have a positive send off for your student in the am. Students should feel supported by you as well as confident that they are prepared. We know some nerves are typical and healthy. Again we will assure students that all the hard work until this point of the year is their preparation.
We want to remind parents and students that on testing day all cell phones and/or electronics including smart watches must be turned in to teachers during the test for test security reasons. Cell phones will be taken care of and returned as soon as testing has concluded. We understand students have phones for various reasons and just want to encourage them to follow procedure and turn them in. Thanks in advance for reminding your student to do so.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact your child’s teacher or our office at 972-947-9450.
Prestwick Proud,
Christine Gibson
