5th Grade at Bear Creek Elementary

Week 6 - October 12th - October 16th

Dear Families,

Thank you for being so patient with us last week for our first week back into the building! Please remember to use the AISD app to self-screen before entering the building. Also remind your child that they will need to wear their mask all day (even outside at recess) and that we are enforcing social distancing in class and in the hallways.

We are following our new schedule and hopefully, keeping this schedule for the rest of the year. This schedule can be found on our fifth-grade website. We are hoping for a regular schedule this week without any interruptions!

Feel free to join our office hours anytime from 2:15 - 3:05 pm. We have office hours every day except Wednesday.

What we're doing in class this week...

Week of October 12th

ELAR: Due to MAP testing last week, we weren’t able to start our novel study until Friday. I am so excited to fully dive in this week! Students will be able to work in breakout groups to read the text and answer comprehension questions while I monitor, teach & guide in small groups. It is important that students are keeping up with their reading! We will also have a vocabulary quiz this Friday. The text feature assignment from last week is due this Tuesday!

Social Studies: We are using what we learned last week on regions to learn about mapping! This project will not be due until next Wednesday the 21st to ensure ample time, but there are assignments in Blend to complete. Please make sure to use the calendar as a guide!

Math: We will continue to work on fractions this week. We will learn how to reduce/simplify fractions, convert mixed numbers to improper fractions (and back) and convert fractions to decimals (and back). Please check your child's PLP for their assignments this week.

Science: We will focus on electrical energy this week. We will look at different types of circuits and find out the difference between insulators and conductors. Please check your child's PLP for their assignments this week.
