Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.
Snapshot News:
Year 9 - PiXL Edge:
Year 9 Students received their certificates in assembly this week celebrating their successful completion of the PiXL Edge program. The students showed great commitment and dedication to all aspects of the program. Well done!
Year 11 Results Assembly:
Well done to out Year 11 students for their results form the recent English and Maths mock exams. A special mention to the following students for excellent progress Finley D, Julia, Sam M, Jason, Jasmine, Cameron, Klaudia, Thomas, Leon,
Beau and Ruby.
And also, well done to Tola and James who are the highest achievers in the Maths mock, and Thomas who is the highest achiever in the English mock.

Subject Highlights:
Maths:
Mr Lee has nominated 7ST who were the top performing form group with their Sparx homework, they had a 100% completion rate. The group were given a prize for their efforts. Another prize will be given out for the top performing tutor group this week.
Mr Horne has nominated Year 9 students Wiktoria and Maisie-Mai (Yr 9) for studying the equation of straight lines so well and Emma, Filip, Eryk and Jefe (7TU) for completing their Sparx homework so promptly.
Mrs Wynn has nominated 8A1 for excellent show of knowledge in their FTG this week on straight line graphs. Also nominated are 10A3 for their work on finding the nth term of a sequence and 11B2 who came out with great results in their mocks and now know what they need to do to achieve their ultimate goals!
Drama:
Mrs Hallybone would like to congratulate 9TA for working really hard on their end of unit devising piece, in which they combined the techniques of 3 key theatre practitioners: Stanislavski, Brecht and Artaud. They demonstrated excellent teamwork skills, and their pieces were very creative.
Well done to the Year 11 Drama class who all met with the Trust audio-visual technician , to go through the technical requirements for their devising projects. Their pieces are really coming together and they have worked very hard to get to this point.
Sixth Form:
Mr Hallas would like to congratulate Dylan for his excellent speech at the Celebration Evening. A natural at public speaking. Well done Dylan!
Humanities:
Miss Gilbert has made the following nominations this week:
Demi and Morgan (7CU) for their continued commitment in Geography but especially the last two lessons on types of rainfall and formation of clouds.
Johann and Amelia (8CU) for their enthusiasm about coasts and how waves are created. This has been shown through the diagrams they have drawn and the descriptions they have written.
Courtney Osbourne and Alicia (10C) for their hard work in Geography while studying rivers, the processes and formation. Well done, and keep up the hard work!
Finally, Year 11 students Jenson and Gabriela for showing that all their hard work in the subject has been shown through their end of topic test. You have both done amazingly, and should be really proud! Keep up the hard work!
Mr Hallas has nominated 9TE for a brilliant lesson this week. The level of factual recall by all was impressive and so much was achieved in the lesson. You are a credit to Year 9 – well done!
Music:
Year 7:
This week Miss Patrick would like to celebrate 7CO who demonstrated their groupwork ability. Students were respectful to one another, and this led to some brilliant performances at the end of the lesson. A special mention goes to Loghan, Edgars, Olivia S and Mirren for being very brave and rising to the challenge of a leadership role.
Year 8:
Well done to all of the year 8’s this week for their brilliant performances to REM’s ‘Losing my religion’, Miss Patrick has been amazed at how much progress students have made this term. A special mention to Olivia and Miller in 8TU for attempting the complex strumming pattern!
Year 9:
This week Miss Patrick has really enjoyed listening to students underscores for a film clip and has been impressed with the range of new skills students have shown off in their work! A special mention to Sam in 9SW and Matty and Ollie in 9CO for their creative responses to the brief – excellent work!
Additionally, a huge congratulations to Nicole K in 8CO who passed her Grade 1 Piano with a Merit this week – well done!
Science:
Scientists of the Week are:
Year 7 student Saketh for amazing commitment to Science.
Year 8 student Artjom for excellent effort within Science.
Year 9 student Alfie C for presenting excellent ideas to the class.
Year 10 student Melissa for brilliant attitude in Science.
Year 11student Aimee for excellent effort in Science.
MFL:
Miss Graziano has nominated Alexis, Alessandro, Sarah, Kevin, Vladimir, Lucy, Finn, Maisie, and Aston (8TE) for outstanding effort in Spanish and Dylan M (8TE) for fantastic progress in Spanish.
Mrs Sahota has nominated 7CA who are always ready and eager to learn and engage in Spanish Well done, it is wonderful to see their enthusiasm and effort.
Also nominated are 8TU, they have worked well all term and have achieved good results in their recent writing assessment. Well done and congratulations to the following students:
Peter, Jasmine, Pg, Will, Miller, Vanessa, Karina, Veronica, Oliwia, Deliana, Lottie and Mati.
DT:
Mr Harley has nominated Year 10 student Melissa who has successful complete the folding table project. Melissa has worked independently and accurately during the course of this practical project and has been assisting other students with the task. Well done Melissa!
English:
Miss Lodge has nominated 10AP2 for their fantastic homework responses. They have shown how much progress they have made over the term and are working really hard in lessons. Also nominated are 9B1 for consistent excellent effort and enthusiasm for the text we are studying. Special mentions to Ollie, Oliver, Bella, Louisa, Toby, Thomas and Harry E for making excellent contributions in class discussions.
Mrs Rice has nominated Year 9 students Chloe and Ruby for their excellent paragraphs on The Woman in Black.
