Principal's Message
Happy Tuesday Team Bear Creek,
This will be the last regularly scheduled Cub Hub for the 2020-2021 school year. Soon the largest collective exhale will be heard and felt around the community ... we did it :-)
"We" being the keyword ... everyone had skin in this game and it was hard and just like most hard things it was totally 150% worth it ... thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the most memorable year AJ and I have ever had.
Not sure if we will cheer or cry on Thursday afternoon as we say goodbye for a couple months ... lots of emotions are skipping about these days.
THANK YOU!!!!!!
AJ and David

Summer Tips For Your Student's Device
Here are some tips for you as you navigate the summer with your child's device.
https://www.commonsensemedia.org/parent-concerns
Fifth graders will take their Chromebook on to middle school.
We will issue Chromebooks for our incoming third graders during orientation and they (current second graders) will hand in their iPads during the same orientation (NOTE THIS IS A CHANGE PER THE DISTRICT.)
We will issue iPads to our new kindergarten and pre-k families during our orientation(s) which will be announced over the summer.
Unless you need to use the device my recommendation is to box it up or bag it up and put it away for safe keeping.
Counselor's Corner
Dear Bear Creek Families.
Let me just start by saying what an honor it has been to be a part of this inaugural year here at Bear Creek. I have loved the opportunity I have had to get to know all these students. And I am so excited to think how that bond will grow even more throughout the years. Building genuine relationships is my goal and the only true way to create an environment of learning and trust.
And guess what!? It is the same at home. When our kids trust in us to protect them, listen, be there, and love them unconditionally they are more likely to actually hear us. It is where what we say doesn't just kind of matter, it matters the MOST!
I remember growing up my mom telling me things that I was good at and how I needed to share my talents with others. While I, of course, rolled my eyes, I grew up secretly believing those things about myself because my mom said it. Looking back, I laugh a little at how much stake I put in one person's opinion. Boy, am I glad she spoke so positive because, that is what shaped me, gave me confidence, and was that little voice in the back of my head that told me I could do it.
If words matter and are remembered, then negative comments are held onto as well. That's why rephrasing what we say is so important. Being purposeful in what we say is just as important as how we say it. Like last week's positive affirmations, words matter. And yours matter the most even if it doesn't seem like it. Keep saying those positive things. Keep encouraging. They are listening. If these 9 are all you say.. right on!
One more thing for fun, include purposeful family time this summer. Amp up that movie night by focusing on the message. Check out this list of themed movies that can lead to some great conversations and connections to our Bear Creek Core Values of Community, Resilience, Empathy, Integrity, and Courage!
All my best for a great summer of connection and enjoyment.
Looking forward to seeing you again in August!!
