Andrew Jackson
The most heroic president... so far
He "killed" the National Bank!
Jackson thought that the National Bank was only helping the wealthy people, not the common man. He took all the money from the National Bank and gave it to the State Banks, the public was very happy that they were getting money because of Jackson.
He doesn't follow the rules!
In the court case, Worcester v. Georgia, Chief Justice John Marshall said that states cannot interfere with the Indians. Jackson, responded to this by saying: "John Marshall has made his decision, now let him enforce it!" Which is him basically saying, "I'm going to do what I want to do, and lets see John Marshall stop me!"
Andrew Jackson kills the National Bank
In this political cartoon, Jackson is using a bill that is going to get the National Bank to shut down. Lightning bolts are coming out of the paper and destroying the pillars holding the National Bank, the "devil banker" is running away. The man standing behind Jackson is happy because the bank is being destroyed and he will get money.
He helped boost the economy with the "Trail of Tears!"
Jackson, after the Worcester v. Georgia case, he still went ahead and forced the army to relocate the Cherokee tribe to the western part of the U.S. Even though most of the Cherokee tribe died along the way, the economy boosted because of the gold and the cotton plantations that the Cherokee tribe had.
