11 Reasons Teaching Is the Best (Even When It Isn’t)

Dear Team,

I am sending this on a Saturday night because I don't know if you have heard, but I am GRADUATING on Sunday! The past two years have challenged me in ways I could not have imagined and there were many times I considered throwing in the towel. But I didn't. And tomorrow I will proudly accept my diploma from UM-Flint alongside Martie Piechowski and Jodie Morgan. These ladies were incredible supports and I will walk beside them tomorrow as they also earn their ED.S. degrees. Special thanks to Dr. Hall who answered countless questions about school reform, budgeting, facilities, and more! For those who are enrolled in programs now and our new college cohort (Andrew, Sarah, Heather, Nicole, Amy), I am super excited for all of you to have the opportunity to learn together. You will form stronger bonds as a cohort and I look forward to each one of you sharing your learning with our team! And don't forget to make time for yourself. Carve out time to do things you love to do so that you don't burn out.

11 Reasons Teaching Is the Best (Even When It Isn’t)

The final weeks of a school year can be exhausting & stressful. The post above helps us to remember all the good things about our jobs, in the midst of a time where many of us feel mentally & physically drained.

I don’t want a “normal” job.

I want this crazy, exhausting, hilarious, stressful job.

I wasn’t born to be normal, anyways.

Finish strong, teacher friends.
