ASPIRE MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING SERVICES
There is an increasing need to support students with mental health concerns nationwide. The Royal Highlanders are excited to welcome counseling services by ASPIRE, thanks to Mr. John Poleno and his team. These small groups provide students the opportunity to learn, express themselves in confidentiality, and to benefit from the support of peers.
1) Vaping, Alcohol or Drugs
2) Socio-emotional Group: Addressing the impact of stress or anxiety by strengthening student resiliency through social support
You you or someone you know could benefit, please provide me their name and contact information HERE https://forms.gle/YqukzdEt2HhMwYQs9. Recommended students from this list will meet with a school counselor for more information and to determine the appropriateness of services.
ROYAL HIGH SCHOOL CENTER FOR ACADEMIC SUCCESS (CAS)
The Center for Academic Success is located in our Library. This is a academic support program that offers peer to peer tutoring from upperclassmen National Honor Society members before school, at lunch, and after school. Teachers from Math, Science, English, Social Studies, and World Languages are also scheduled after school to offer student support on specific days of the week. For questions or to help your student take part in this program, please email Mr. Dobson or Mrs. Mackey in the Library. The CAS will officially open for 2019-2020 on October 14th.

WORK EXPERIENCE
Get paid to learn, and earn elective credits toward graduation!
Students with qualifying jobs can join WEE (Work Experience Education) and earn practical arts or elective credits. This class combines practical on-the-job training with one hour a week of classroom instruction. Classes are semester or year long.
Looking for an Internship class?
Internships can be used as a valuable tool to gain job experience, strengthen resumes, and receive elective credits. Each semester Royal High School coordinates with community businesses offering student internships.
- Simi Valley veterinary hospitals and clinics have partnered with Royal High School to offer structured, educational internships to high school students.
- Community Internships through the Chamber of Commerce and the Youth Employment Service are available for civic minded students.
- Teachers of Tomorrow (off campus) Internships are available each semester.
- Teacher Assistant classes are offered.
- If you are Interning at a local business, check with Mrs. Longo in the Work Experience office 2-11. Your non-paid internship combined with weekly class instruction may qualify for elective credits.
ROP/CEC
Royal High School students can explore Regional Occupational Program courses, which are offered each semester at the Career Education Center at the Camarillo campus, the Moorpark campus and local high schools.

For questions contact Mrs. Longo.
DRESS CODE
In order to promote a safe and non distracting learning environment, Royal High School will be enforcing our Dress Code. Students are asked to wear clothing that is appropriate for the school or work setting and should be appropriate, modest in nature and non distracting to the learning environment (BP/AR 5132).
● State law requires that footwear be worn at all times.
● Students must wear an appropriate shirt at all times. Including during sports practices. Examples of inappropriate shirts are: sleeveless undershirts, tube-tops, see-through tops, backless tops, strapless tops, or low-cut or stomach baring (midriff) tops, and muscle shirts.
● Clothing that advertises or promotes alcohol, drugs, violence, or other inappropriate activity is not acceptable.
● Undergarments of any kind should not be visible.
● Shorts and skirts are to be at fingertip length.
Violation of the Student Dress Code will result in requiring the student to change to more appropriate attire (physical education clothes or school spiritwear). Additional school consequences will be given to repeat offenders.

FOOD DELIVERIES FOR STUDENTS
Attention Parents and Students:
Please be aware that food deliveries from outside vendors such as Door Dash, Uber Eats and Grub Hub will not be allowed to deliver food to the Royal campus unless it is during our scheduled lunch time. Students may not leave class to receive food deliveries. Food may only be delivered to the front office and not delivered over the fence or through the gates. The office will not accept fountain drinks or any drink that does not have a sealed lid. The student's name must be clearly labeled on the food item. Failure to follow these guidelines will jeopardize any food delivery services at Royal High School.
ST. ROSE OF LIMA PARKING LOT
Attention Parents and Students: Please do not use the St. Rose of Lima Parking Lot to drop off and pick up your students. They have asked us to relay that their parking lot has had very heavy traffic and their parents can't get in to pick up their students from their own school. You can meet your students off of Arcane in the back of the school, on Hudspeth to the East of the school, or in either parking lot. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
FEATURED COLLEGE
THIS WEEK: Eckerd College
Click here for Tuition & Financial Aid Info
Enrollment: 1,894
Acceptance Rate: 73%
DETAILS: Attending Eckerd College demands a special sort of willpower. Why? In the words of an international business major: “We are right on the water, and it is like going to college in a resort.” With free canoes, kayaks, boats, coolers, and tents always available for student use, it’s a wonder anyone finds time to study. But study they do, as administrators continue to lure capable students to Eckerd with small classes, skilled professors, and a thriving social scene. “Few schools are located right on the beach,” says a sophomore. “It’s Eckerd’s paradise-like setting that seals the deal for most prospective students.”
Autumn Term, Eckerd’s version of freshman orientation, is a three-week term before the regular fall semester that introduces new students to the academic expectations and social responsibilities of the Eckerd community. First-years also take a yearlong course called Human Experience, which focuses on topics like justice, power, freedom, and global citizenship, and all students must meet composition, foreign language, information technology, oral communication, and quantitative skills requirements. Also required are one course in each of the four academic areas—arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences—plus one course each in environmental and global perspectives. The capstone senior seminar, organized around the theme “Imagining Justice,” asks students to draw on what they’ve learned during college to find solutions to important issues. Seniors present their capstone work at a festival in the spring. All students are also expected to complete at least 40 hours of community service before graduation; service opportunities are built into reflective service-learning courses that are offered in every major.
EC Student Perspective: “Although the classes are intellectually stimulating, engaging, and challenging, there is not too much competition among the students."
