A Note From Mrs. Dado
It is hard to believe that we rounded out the first two weeks of school. I know that the path to this point has not been easy for any of us and I want to give my sincere thanks for all of the support, flexibility, and grace you have given us. The positive notes, calls, and emails have impacted us more than you will ever know.
I'd like to take a moment to share with you a bit about a recurring theme in our recent conversations at Eisenhower. We’ve been talking about the ideal that we are responsible for the whole child. We’ve been talking about the fact that school is not only a place where knowledge is imparted, but it is a place where children are nurtured to grow in every way -- socially, emotionally, physically and academically. We’ve been talking about ways to develop that social and emotional part of our children. This year, more than ever, we have an obligation to focus on growing and embracing the whole child. We're focusing on listening to students’ interests, needs, and concerns. We're working to know our students on a personal level and attempt to understand their experiences. We're modeling kindness, patience, and respect for one another. Focusing on the whole child allows us to tend to students’ overall well-being and their emotional and social selves.
At Eisenhower, relationships matter. They are the foundation to learning.
AT HOME LEARNING TIPS
Student Attendnace
To “attend” school means to be physically present and enrolled in a school or another location where the school’s educational program is being conducted during regular school hours on a day in which the educational programming is being offered.
Any student who is enrolled and accumulates at least ten (10) unexcused absences during a school year is considered habitually truant. Any student who accumulates at least ten (10) absences, excused or unexcused, during a school year is considered chronically absent.
Our school will continue to track daily student attendance from the beginning of the school year. Therefore, a student will be counted absent using the criteria below when attending in-person days and distance learning days.
On in-person days, a student will be counted absent if they are not present in school/class on their assigned A or B day. Parents must notify the school of the absence.
On distance learning days the student is absent if there is no evidence by the start of the next school day of the following: course progress, participation in virtual class meetings, participation on assigned instruction, system activity and login times, and completion of daily work and/or long-term projects.
Reporting an Absence
Please note that we track illnesses in the building and will request that you provide symptoms if calling your child off sick.

COVID Information for Parents
Back to school resources for parents can be found at http://www.coronavirus.in.gov or ISDH call center @ 1-877-826-0011 from 8am-5pm daily.
COVID-19 Symptoms
If a child, faculty or staff member has any of the following symptoms, that indicates a possible illness that may put them at risk for spreading illness to others.
- Temperature 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit or higher
- Sore throat
- New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (for students with chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline)
- Diarrhea, vomiting or abdominal pain
- New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever
- Loss of taste or smell
Quarantine of Siblings and Household Members
If a student, faculty or staff member has symptoms of COVID-19 as described above and tests positive or does NOT get tested for COVID-19, then siblings and household members should be considered close contacts and advised to quarantine. If the symptomatic person is diagnosed with another condition that explains the symptoms, or tests negative, then no quarantine for the close contacts is necessary, but a provider's note with alternate diagnosis will be needed to return to school.
A symptomatic student, faculty or staff member and anyone living in their household should quarantine while waiting for test results.
