Mile with a Smile
We are very proud of all our children who have being doing at least 15 minutes' exercise every day during our new 'Daily Mile' initiative. It has been a little bit more of a challenge this week because of the wet weather, so we are even more pleased to announce that there have been smiling faces come rain or shine. To keep the children safe, we have walked when the ground has been slippery. The only complaints came because the children wanted to run, not because they wanted to get in out of the rain!
We will need an all weather track round the edge of the field for the winter months, so are grateful to the Friends for organising a Sponsored Mile during the Summer Fair on Saturday 17th June to fundraise for the track. The deadline for getting in your sponsor money has been extended to next Wednesday. Thank you to everyone who has asked for sponsors and to generous friends and relatives for their support. We are looking forward to everyone doing their mile at the Fair. Past pupil and Olympic gold medal winner Jack Laugher, will be presenting medals at the Fair to all children who participate in the sponsored mile.
What shall we call our Breakfast and After School Club?
Many of you will have seen that we posed a question on facebook this week. What shall we call our new breakfast and after school childcare? Thank you for the suggestions received so far, but more would be welcomed! We would also love you to record your interest in the childcare which starts in September. Mrs Bingham has a list at her desk so pop in or give her a ring. We are interviewing for staff on Tuesday and will be sending out more details after that.
Crafty Vehicles
The Year 2 children have designed some fantastic moving vehicles as part of their topic 'What is the best way to travel?' They created a wide range of vehicles including buses, lorries and cars and even raced them to see which vehicle travelled the furthest.
Steady Hands Required
Tempting Tastes
Some of the exciting choices on our new school lunch menu are unfamiliar to our children. Miss Wood our school cook kindly took down her quinoa salad to the year 3 class to taste. At first they were unsure, but as soon as they tried the salad, they agreed it was something they would like more of. Please be sure to click here or have a good look at the paper copy of the menu which went out before the holiday. The layout is different, as the Friday choices which appear on the left hand side. It would be great if you could talk about what's on offer to help your child ahead of time.
Let's hope for sunshine on Thursday
