Third quarter report cards were emailed to parents Friday morning. Please review your child's report card and also discuss and celebrate his or her progress for this school year. Beginning Monday, March 27th students will be eating breakfast in the cafeteria instead of in the classroom. This change is being made to help reduce the mess that is created in the classroom from breakfast, help expedite the school day, and we no longer are expected to keep stable seating charts. Students arriving after 8:50 will still grab a bagged breakfast and eat his or her breakfast in the classroom.

Children who have turned five years of age before August 1, 2022, are eligible for kindergarten for the 2022-23 school year and are invited to our Kindergarten Kickoffs in our elementaries on Tuesday, March 29. Families are encouraged to view the attendance area boundary map linked here on the District website, or call the District office at 816-858-5420 for confirmation of attendance area. If you know of a family with a child entering kindergarten, please pass this information along, and if your family has an incoming kindergartner, please complete the following form. We will send you additional information about Kindergarten Kickoff and an enrollment packet.

Thursday was not too "Springlike" for us to take our Spring pictures. Due to the cancellation of school we have rescheduled Spring pictures to Thursday, April 14th. Moving back our Spring pictures and class pictures we will allow parents to continue to send in money for class pictures until April 14th.

Parents of students currently in grades K-7 interested in K-8 Summer School: You can now enroll for 2022 Summer School via the e-Forms on Parent Portal. Please complete by April 8, 2022.

Summer School will be held in June 1-28, 2022, at the following locations:

• Pathfinder Elementary: Kindergarten – 5th grade (K-5 students from Pathfinder and Barry attendance areas)
• Compass Elementary: Kindergarten – 5th grade (students from Siegrist and Compass attendance areas)
• Barry School: 6th grade – 8th grade (students from Barry School attendance areas)
• Platte City Middle School: 6th grade – 8th grade (students from PCMS attendance areas)
• Platte County High School Paxton Center: 9th grade – 12th grade (PCHS students)

*Incoming Kindergarten students should complete summer school registration forms when completing their regular school year enrollment paperwork (Kindergarten Kickoffs will be held March 29).

**Information about enrolling in the High School summer school program will be available in April.

In a few weeks, students in grade 3rd and 4th grade will be participating in the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) Grade-Level Assessments. Additional information will be sent home on Friday, April 1st regarding the test, but we wanted to inform you of the district's testing schedule. Please make every attempt to ensure that your child is present during anticipated testing times/dates and that he/she is prepared for testing.

Make plans to join other Pathfinder families on Thursday, April 7th from 3:00 to 9:00 at Chuck E. Cheese located at 9196 N. Skyview Ave. Kansas City , MO 64154. 20% of the sales will go back to our PTA. This is a fun way to grab dinner, entertain the kids, and meet new Pathfinder families. A flyer will be coming home soon with details and coupons for the event!

Reminder that we do not have school Friday, April 15th or Monday, April 18th due to district inservice. We hope our families are able to enjoy a four day Easter weekend!

The Board approved the academic calendar for the 2022-23 school year, as suggested by teachers, support staff, parents and board members on the calendar committee, and taking into consideration feedback during public review. The first day of school will be Tuesday, August 23, 2022, and the last day of school is planned for Wednesday, May 24, 2023. Other important dates include: Winter Break begins with a 3-hour early dismissal on December 21, 2022 and runs through January 3, 2023; Spring Break is March 20-24, 2023; and in addition to makeup days at the end of the school year, the calendar identifies February 20 and April as possible make up days, if needed.

The District uses text messaging and automated phone calls to notify parents of upcoming events and days off, school closings due to weather, and during emergency situations. Newly enrolled families will automatically receive an opt-in message from 67587. If you missed it, simply text “Yes” to 67587 to receive text messages.

This year we are asking you to complete the Resource Checklist electronically using this form. This brief questionnaire is your School Social Worker's first and primary way to help you access support services. It also lets us know if you are interested in giving back to your school community.
